1. తరువాత అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు రాజై ఇశ్రాయేలు తన మీదికి రాకుండతన రాజ్యమును బలపరచుకొనెను.

1. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, [and] he strengthened himself against Israel.

2. And he put garrisons in all the strong cities of Judah, and appointed captains in all the cities of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3. యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయుడై యుండగా యెహోషాపాతు తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు ప్రారంభదినములలో నడచిన మార్గమందు నడచుచు

3. And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father, and did not seek to idols;

4. బయలు దేవతను ఆశ్రయింపక తన తండ్రి దేవుని ఆశ్ర యించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి చర్యలను వెంబడింపక ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలననుసరించి నడిచెను.

4. but he sought the Lord God of his father, and walked in the commandments of his father, and not according to the works of Israel.

5. కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతనిచేత రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచెను, యూదావారందరును యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్ను ఇచ్చుచుండిరి, అతనికి ఐశ్వ ర్యమును ఘనతయు మెండుగా కలిగెను.

5. And the Lord prospered the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave gifts to Jehoshaphat; and he had great wealth and glory.

6. యెహోవా మార్గములయందు నడుచుకొనుటకు అతడు తన మనస్సును దృఢపరచుకొనినవాడై ఉన్నత స్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదాలోనుండి తీసివేసెను.

6. And his heart was exalted in the way of the Lord; and he removed the high places and the groves from the land of Judah.

7. తన యేలుబడియందు మూడవ సంవత్సరమున యూదా పట్టణములలో జనులకు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును బోధించుటకై అతడు పెద్దలైన బెన్హయీలును ఓబద్యాను జెకర్యాను నెతనేలును మీకాయాను

7. And in the third year of his reign, he sent his chief men and his mighty men, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethaneel and Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

8. షెమయా నెతన్యా జెబద్యా అశాహేలు షెమిరామోతు యెహోనాతాను అదోనీయా టోబీయా టోబదోనీయా అను లేవీయులను, యాజకులైన ఎలీషామాను యెహోరామును బంపెను.

8. And with them [were] the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, Levites, and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9. వారు యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథమును చేత పుచ్చుకొని యూదావారిమధ్య ప్రకటనచేయుచు, యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటను సంచరించుచు జనులకు బోధించిరి.

9. And they taught in Judah, and [there was] with them the Book of the Law of the Lord, and they passed through the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

10. యూదా దేశము చుట్టు ఉండు దేశముల రాజ్యములన్నిటి మీదికియెహోవా భయము వచ్చినందున వారు యెహోషా పాతుతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండిరి.

10. And the terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land round about Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11. ఫిలిష్తీయులలో కొందరు యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్నును కానుకలను ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అరబీయులును అతనికి ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లను ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల మేక పోతులను తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. And [some] of the Philistines brought to Jehoshaphat gifts, and silver, and presents; and the Arabians brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams.

12. యెహోషాపాతు అంతకంతకు గొప్పవాడై యూదా దేశమునందు కోటలను సామగ్రిని నిలువచేయు పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

12. And Jehoshaphat increased in greatness exceedingly, and built fortresses in Judea, and strong cities.

13. యూదాదేశపు పట్టణములలో అతనికి బహు ధనము సమకూర్చబడెను. అతని క్రింది పరా క్రమశాలులు యెరూషలేములో కూడియుండిరి.

13. And he had many works in Judea. And the mighty men of war, [the men] of strength, [were] in Jerusalem.

14. వీరి పితరుల వంశములచొప్పున వీరి సంఖ్య యెంతనగా, యూదాలో సహస్రాధిపతులైన వారికి ప్రధానుడగు అద్నాయొద్ద మూడు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

14. And this [is] their number according to the houses of their fathers; even the captains of thousands in Judah [were]: Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of strength, three hundred thousand.

15. రెండవవాడగు యెహోహానాను అను అధిపతియొద్ద రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబదివేలమంది యుండిరి.

15. And after him, Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.

16. మూడవవాడు జిఖ్రీ కుమారుడై యెహోవాకు తన్నుతాను మనఃపూర్వకముగా సమర్పించుకొనిన అమస్యా; అతనియొద్ద రెండు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

16. And after him Amasiah the [son] of Zichri, who was zealous for the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of strength.

17. బెన్యామీనీయులలో ఎల్యాదా అను పరాక్రమశాలి యొకడుండెను; వీనియొద్ద వింటిని కేడెమును పట్టుకొనువారు రెండు లక్షలమంది యుండిరి.

17. And out of Benjamin [there was] a mighty man of strength, even Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand archers and targeteers.

18. రెండవవాడు యెహోజాబాదు; వీనియొద్ద లక్షయెనుబదివేలమంది యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులుండిరి.

18. And after him Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand mighty men of war.

19. రాజు యూదాయందంతటనుండు ప్రాకారపురములలో ఉంచినవారు గాక వీరు రాజుయొక్క పరివారములో చేరినవారై యుండిరి.

19. These were the king's servants besides those whom the king put in the strong cities in all Judea.
