1. Sarah lived to be one hundred twenty-seven years old.

2. శారా కనాను దేశమందలి హెబ్రోనను కిర్యతర్బాలో మృతిబొందెను; అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము శారా నిమిత్తము అంగలార్చుటకును ఆమెను గూర్చి యేడ్చుటకును వచ్చెను.

2. She died in Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. Abraham was very sad and cried because of her.

3. తరువాత అబ్రాహాము మృతిబొందిన తన భార్య యెదుట నుండి లేచి హేతు కుమారులను చూచి

3. After a while he got up from the side of his wife's body and went to talk to the Hittites. He said,

4. మీ మధ్య నేను పరదేశినిగాను పరవాసినిగాను ఉన్నాను. మృతిబొందిన నా భార్య నా కన్నుల యెదుట ఉండకుండ, ఆమెను పాతి పెట్టుటకు మీ తావున నాకొక శ్మశానభూమిని స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇయ్యుడని అడుగగా

4. 'I am only a stranger and a foreigner here. Sell me some of your land so that I can bury my dead wife.'

5. హేతు కుమారులు అయ్యా మా మాట వినుము. నీవు మా మధ్యను మహారాజవై యున్నావు;

5. The Hittites answered Abraham,

6. మా శ్మశాన భూములలో అతి శ్రేష్టమైన దానియందు మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతిపెట్టుము; నీవు మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతి పెట్టునట్లు మాలో తన శ్మశానభూమి ఇయ్యనొల్లనివాడు ఎవడును లేడని అబ్రాహాము కుత్తరమిచ్చిరి.

6. 'Sir, you are a great leader among us. You may have the best place we have to bury your dead. You may have any of our burying places that you want, and none of us will stop you from burying your dead wife.'

7. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము లేచి ఆ దేశపు ప్రజలైన హేతు కుమారులకు సాగిలపడి

7. Abraham rose and bowed to the people of the land, the Hittites.

8. మృతిబొందిన నా భార్యను నా యెదుట ఉండకుండ నేను పాతి పెట్టుట మీకిష్టమైతే నా మాట వినుడి.

8. He said to them, 'If you truly want to help me bury my dead wife here, speak to Ephron, the son of Zohar for me.

9. సోహరు కుమారుడైన ఎఫ్రోను తన పొలము చివరను తనకు కలిగియున్న మక్పేలా గుహను నాకిచ్చునట్లు నా పక్షముగా అతనితో మనవిచేయుడి. మీ మధ్యను శ్మశాన భూమిగా నుండుటకు నిండు వెలకు అతడు దానిని నాకు స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇయ్యవలెనని వారితో చెప్పెను.

9. Ask him to sell me the cave of Machpelah at the edge of his field. I will pay him the full price. You can be the witnesses that I am buying it as a burial place.'

10. అప్పుడు ఎఫ్రోను హేతు కుమారులమధ్యను కూర్చుండి యుండెను. హిత్తీయుడైన ఎఫ్రోను తన ఊరి గవిని ప్రవేశించువారందరి యెదుట హేతు కుమారులకు వినబడునట్లు అబ్రాహాముతో చెప్పిన ప్రత్యుత్తరమేమనగా

10. Ephron was sitting among the Hittites at the city gate. He answered Abraham,

11. అయ్యా అట్లు కాదు నా మనవి నాలకించుము, ఆ పొలమును నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; దానిలో నున్న గుహను నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; నా ప్రజల యెదుట అది నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతి పెట్టుమనెను

11. 'No, sir. I will give you the land and the cave that is in it, with these people as witnesses. Bury your dead wife.'

12. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము ఆ దేశపు ప్రజల యెదుట సాగిలపడి

12. Then Abraham bowed down before the Hittites.

13. సరేకాని నా మనవి ఆలకించుము. ఆ పొలమునకు వెల యిచ్చెదను; అది నాయొద్ద పుచ్చుకొనిన యెడల మృతిబొందిన నా భార్యను పాతి పెట్టెదనని ఆ దేశ ప్రజలకు వినబడు నట్లు ఎఫ్రోనుతో చెప్పెను.

13. He said to Ephron before all the people, 'Please let me pay you the full price for the field. Accept my money, and I will bury my dead there.'

14. అందుకు ఎఫ్రోను అయ్యా నా మాట వినుము; ఆ భూమి నాలుగు వందల తులముల వెండి చేయును;

14. Ephron answered Abraham,

15. నాకు నీకు అది యెంత? మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతిపెట్టుమని అబ్రాహామున కుత్తరమిచ్చెను;

15. 'Sir, the land is worth ten pounds of silver, but I won't argue with you over the price. Take the land, and bury your dead wife.'

16. అబ్రాహాము ఎఫ్రోను మాట వినెను. కాబట్టి హేతు కుమారులకు వినబడునట్లు ఎఫ్రోను చెప్పిన వెల అనగా వర్తకులలో చెల్లు నాలుగు వందల తులముల వెండి అబ్రాహాము తూచి అతని కిచ్చెను.

16. Abraham agreed and paid Ephron in front of the Hittite witnesses. He weighed out the full price, ten pounds of silver, and they counted the weight as the traders normally did.
