1. రాజైన యరొబాము ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అబీయా యూదావారిమీద ఏలనారం భించెను.

1. Abijah became the king of Judah in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam.

2. అతడు మూడు సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేమునందు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లిపేరు మీకాయా, ఆమె గిబియా ఊరివాడైన ఊరియేలు కుమార్తె.

2. He ruled for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3. అబీయాకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము కలుగగా అబీయా నాలుగు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమ శాలుల సైన్యము ఏర్పరచుకొని యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముచేసెను; యరొబామును ఎనిమిది లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని అతనికి ఎదురుగా వారిని యుద్ధమునకు వ్యూహపరచెను.

3. Abijah began the battle with an army of powerful soldiers, 400,000 chosen men. Jeroboam came ready for battle against him with 800,000 chosen men who were powerful soldiers.

4. అప్పుడు అబీయా ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందుండు సెమరాయిము కొండమీద నిలిచి ప్రకటించినదేమనగాయరొబామా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీరందరును నాకు చెవియొగ్గుడి.

4. Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, 'Listen to me, Jeroboam and all Israel!

5. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యమును ఎల్లప్పుడును ఏలునట్లుగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా దావీదుతోను అతని సంతతివారితోను భంగము కాజాలని నిబంధన చేసి దానిని వారికిచ్చెనని మీరు తెలిసికొందురు గదా.

5. Do you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by an agreement of salt?

6. అయినను దావీదు కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనుకు దాసుడును నెబాతు కుమారుడునగు యరొబాము పనికి మాలిన దుష్టులతో కలిసి లేచి తన యజమానునిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసెను.

6. But Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, went against his lord the king.

7. సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము ఇంకను బాల్యదశలోనుండి ధైర్యము లేనివాడై వారిని ఎదిరించుటకు తగిన శక్తిలేకున్నప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు సిద్ధమైరి.

7. And men of no worth gathered around him. They were bad men who were too strong for Rehoboam the son of Solomon. Rehoboam was young and weak and could not stand against them.

8. ఇప్పుడు దావీదు సంతతి వారి వశముననున్న యెహోవా రాజ్యముతో మీరు యుద్ధముచేయ తెగించెదమని తలంచుచున్నారు. మీరు గొప్ప సైన్యముగా ఉన్నారు; యరొబాము మీకు దేవతలుగా చేయించిన బంగారు దూడలును మీయొద్ద ఉన్నవి.

8. So now you plan to stand against the power of the Lord through the sons of David. You think you can because you have many people and the gold calves Jeroboam made you for gods.

9. మీరు అహరోను సంతతివారైన యెహోవా యాజకులను, లేవీయులను త్రోసివేసి, అన్యదేశముల జనులు చేయునట్లు మీకొరకు యాజకులను నియమించు కొంటిరిగదా? ఒక కోడెతోను ఏడు గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లతోను తన్ను ప్రతిష్ఠించుటకైవచ్చు ప్రతివాడు, దైవములు కాని వాటికి యాజకుడగుచున్నాడు.

9. Have you not driven out the religious leaders of the Lord, the sons of Aaron and the Levites? And have you not made religious leaders for yourselves like the people of other lands? Whoever comes to make himself holy with a young bull and seven rams becomes a religious leader of false gods.

10. అయితే యెహోవా మాకు దేవుడైయున్నాడు; మేము ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారము కాము; అహరోను సంతతివారు యెహోవాకు సేవచేయు యాజకులై యున్నారు; లేవీయులు చేయవలసిన పనులను లేవీయులే చేయుచున్నారు.

10. But as for us, the Lord is our God. We have not left Him. The sons of Aaron are working for the Lord as religious leaders. And the Levites are doing their work.

11. వారు ఉదయాస్తమయములయందు యెహోవాకు దహనబలులు అర్పించుచు, సుగంధద్రవ్యములతో ధూపము వేయుచు, పవిత్రమైన బల్లమీద సన్నిధిరొట్టెలు ఉంచుచు, బంగారు దీపస్తంభమును ప్రమిదెలను ప్రతి సాయంత్రము ముట్టించుచు వచ్చుచున్నారు; మేము మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా యేర్పరచిన విధినిబట్టి సమస్తము జరిగించుచున్నాము గాని మీరు ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారైతిరి.

11. Every morning they give burnt gifts and burn special perfume to the Lord. The holy bread is set on the clean table. And the gold lampstand with its lamps is ready to light every evening. For we do the work of the Lord our God. But you have left Him.

12. ఆలోచించుడి, దేవుడే మాకు తోడై మాకు అధిపతిగానున్నాడు, మీ మీద ఆర్భాటము చేయుటకై బూరలు పట్టుకొని ఊదునట్టి ఆయన యాజకులు మా పక్షమున ఉన్నారు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతో యుద్ధముచేయకుడి, చేసినను మీరు జయమొందరు.

12. Now see, God is with us at our head. His religious leaders are ready to blow the horns, to sound the call to battle against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against the Lord God of your fathers. For you cannot win.'

13. యరొబాము వారి వెనుకటి భాగమందు మాటు గాండ్రను కొందరిని ఉంచి, సైన్యము యూదావారికి ముందును మాటుగాండ్ర వారికి వెనుకను ఉండునట్లు చేసెను.

13. But Jeroboam had sent soldiers to come from behind. So Israel was in front of Judah, and soldiers were behind them also.

14. యూదావారు తిరిగి చూచి యోధులు తమకు ముందును వెనుకను ఉన్నట్టు తెలిసికొని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసిరి, యాజకులును బూరలు ఊదిరి.

14. When Judah looked, they saw that the battle was both in front of them and behind them. So they cried to the Lord, and the religious leaders blew the horns.

15. అప్పుడు యూదావారు ఆర్భటించిరి; యూదావారు ఆర్భటించి నప్పుడు యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును అబీయా యెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువలేకుండునట్లు దేవుడు వారిని మొత్తినందున

15. Then the men of Judah sounded a war cry. And when they sounded the war cry, God began destroying Jeroboam and all Israel around Abijah and Judah.

16. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యూదా వారి యెదుటనుండి పారిపోయిరి. దేవుడు వారిని యూదా వారిచేతికి అప్పగించినందున

16. The men of Israel ran away from Judah. God gave them into their hand.

17. అబీయాయును అతని జనులును వారిని ఘోరముగా సంహరించిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలు వారిలో అయిదు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులు హతులైరి.

17. Abijah and his people killed many of them. There were 500,000 chosen men of Israel killed.

18. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఆ కాలమందు తగ్గింపబడిరి గాని యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించిన హేతువుచేత జయ మొందిరి.

18. So the sons of Israel were set back at that time. The sons of Judah were strong because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their fathers.

19. అబీయా యరొబామును తరిమి, బేతేలును దాని గ్రామములను యెషానాను దాని గ్రామములను ఎఫ్రోనును దాని గ్రామములను పట్టుకొనెను.

19. Abijah went after Jeroboam. He took from him the cities of Bethel with its towns, Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.

20. అబీయా బ్రదికిన కాలమున యరొబాము మరల బలము పొందలేదు, యెహోవా అతని మొత్తినందుచేత అతడు మరణ మొందెను.

20. Jeroboam did not become strong again in the days of Abijah. And the Lord destroyed him, and he died.

21. అబీయా వృద్ధినొందెను, అతడు పదునాలుగు మంది భార్యలను వివా హము చేసికొని యిరువది యిద్దరు కుమారులను పదునారుగురు కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

21. But Abijah became very strong. He married fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

22. అబీయా చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతని చర్యను గూర్చియు, అతని కాలమున జరిగిన సంగతులను గూర్చియు ప్రవక్తయైన ఇద్దో రచించిన సటీక గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

22. Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways and his words, are written in the story of Iddo the man of God.
