5. that there came men from Shechem, and from Shiloh, and from Samaria, eighty men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes torn, and beating their breasts, and [they had] manna and frankincense in their hands, to bring into the house of the Lord.

6. And Ishmael went out to meet them; [and] they went on and wept. And he said to them, Come in to Gedaliah.

7. And it came to pass, when they had entered into the midst of the city, [that] he killed them [and cast them] into a pit.

10. And Ishmael brought back all the people that were left in Mizpah, and the king's daughter, whom the captain of the guard had committed in charge to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. And he went away beyond the children of Ammon.

11. కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును అతనితోకూడనున్న సేనాధిపతులందరును నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు చేసిన సమస్త దుష్కార్యములను గూర్చిన వార్త విని

11. And Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the leaders of the army that were with him, heard of all the evil deeds which Ishmael had done.

12. పురుషులనందరిని పిలుచుకొని, నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలుతో యుద్ధము చేయబోయి, గిబియోనులోనున్న మహా జలముల దగ్గర అతని కలిసికొనిరి.

12. And they brought all their army, and went to fight against him, and found him near much water in Gibeon.

13. And it came to pass, that when all the people that were with Ishmael saw Johanan, and the leaders of the army that were with him,

14. that they returned to Johanan.

15. But Ishmael escaped with eight men and went to the children of Ammon.

16. అప్పుడు నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను చంపిన తరువాత,

16. And Johanan, and all the leaders of the army that were with him, took all the remnant of the people, whom he had brought back from Ishmael, mighty men in war, and the women, and the other [property], and the eunuchs, whom they had brought back from Gibeon;

17. కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును అతనితో కూడనున్న సేనల యధిపతులందరును మిస్పా దగ్గరనుండి ఇష్మాయేలు నొద్దనుండి జనశేషమంతటిని, అనగా గిబియోను దగ్గరనుండి ఇష్మాయేలు కొనిపోయిన యోధులను స్త్రీలను పిల్లలను, రాజపరివారమును మరల రప్పించిరి;

17. and they departed, and dwelt in Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go into Egypt, for fear of the Chaldeans;

18. for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael had killed Gedaliah, whom the king of Babylon had appointed in the land.
