1. దేవుడు యాకోబుతో - నీవు లేచి బేతేలునకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ నివసించి, నీ సహోదరుడైన ఏశావు ఎదుట నుండి నీవు పారిపోయినప్పుడు నీకు కనబడిన దేవునికి అక్కడ బలిపీఠమును కట్టుమని చెప్పగా

1. AND GOD said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. And make there an altar to God Who appeared to you [in a distinct manifestation] when you fled from the presence of Esau your brother. [Gen. 28:11-22.]

2. యాకోబు తన యింటివారితోను తన యొద్దనున్న వారందరి తోను మీ యొద్దనున్న అన్యదేవతలను పారవేసి మిమ్మును మీరు శుచిపరచుకొని మీ వస్త్రములను మార్చుకొనుడి.

2. Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, Put away the [images of] strange gods that are among you, and purify yourselves and change [into fresh] garments;

3. మనము లేచి బేతేలునకు వెళ్లుదము; నా శ్రమ దినమున నాకుత్తరమిచ్చి నేను వెళ్లిన మార్గమున నాకు తోడైయుండిన దేవునికి బలిపీఠమును అక్కడ కట్టెదనని చెప్పెను.

3. Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make there an altar to God Who answered me in the day of my distress and was with me wherever I went.

4. వారు తమ యొద్దనున్న అన్యదేవతలన్నిటిని తమ చెవులనున్న పోగులను యాకోబునకు అప్పగింపగా యాకోబు షెకెము దగ్గరనున్న మస్తకి వృక్షము క్రింద వాటిని దాచిపెట్టెను.

4. So they [both young men and women] gave to Jacob all the strange gods they had and their earrings which were [worn as charms against evil] in their ears; and Jacob buried and hid them under the oak near Shechem.

5. వారు ప్రయాణమై పోయినప్పుడు, దేవుని భయము వారి చుట్టున్న పట్టణములమీద నుండెను గనుక వారు యాకోబు కుమారులను తరుమలేదు.

5. And they journeyed and a terror from God fell on the towns round about them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

6. యాకోబును అతనితో నున్న జనులందరును కనానులో లూజుకు, అనగా బేతేలునకు వచ్చిరి.

6. So Jacob came to Luz, that is, Bethel, which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people with him.

7. అతడు తన సహోదరుని యెదుట నుండి పారిపోయినప్పుడు దేవుడక్కడ అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమాయెను గనుక అక్కడ బలిపీఠమును కట్టి ఆ చోటికి ఏల్‌ బేతేలను పేరుపెట్టిరి.

7. There he built an altar, and called the place El-bethel [God of Bethel], for there God revealed Himself to him when he fled from the presence of his brother.

8. రిబ్కా దాదియైన దెబోరా చనిపోయి బేతేలునకు దిగువనున్న సింధూరవృక్షము క్రింద పాతిపెట్టబడెను, దానికి అల్లోను బాకూత్‌ అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

8. But Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried below Bethel under an oak; and the name of it was called Allon-bacuth [oak of weeping].

9. యాకోబు పద్దనరామునుండి వచ్చుచుండగా దేవుడు తిరిగి అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమై అతని నాశీర్వదించెను.

9. And God [in a distinctly visible manifestation] appeared to Jacob again when he came out of Padan-aram, and declared a blessing on him. [Gen. 32:28.]

10. అప్పుడు దేవుడు అతనితో నీ పేరు యాకోబు; ఇకమీదట నీ పేరు యాకోబు అనబడదు; నీ పేరు ఇశ్రాయేలు అని చెప్పి అతనికి ఇశ్రాయేలు అను పేరుపెట్టెను.

10. Again God said to him, Your name is Jacob [supplanter]; you shall not be called Jacob any longer, but Israel shall be your name. So He called him Israel [contender with God].

11. మరియు దేవుడు - నేను సర్వశక్తిగల దేవుడను; నీవు ఫలించి అభివృద్ధి పొందుము. జనమును జనముల సమూహమును నీవలన కలుగును; రాజులును నీ గర్భవాసమున పుట్టెదరు.

11. And God said to him, I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall come from you and kings shall be born of your stock;

12. నేను అబ్రాహామునకును ఇస్సాకునకును ఇచ్చిన దేశము నీకిచ్చెదను; నీ తరువాత నీ సంతానమునకు ఈ దేశము నిచ్చెదనని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

12. The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and to your descendants after you I will give the land.

13. దేవుడు అతనితో మాటలాడిన స్థలమునుండి పరమునకు వెళ్లెను.

13. Then God ascended from him in the place where He talked with him.

14. ఆయన తనతో మాటలాడినచోట యాకోబు ఒక స్తంభము, అనగా రాతిస్తంభము కట్టించి దానిమీద పానార్పణము చేసి నూనెయు దానిమీద పోసెను.

14. And Jacob set up a pillar (monument) in the place where he talked with [God], a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it and he poured oil on it.

15. తనతో దేవుడు మాటలాడినచోటికి యాకోబు బేతేలను పేరు పెట్టెను. వారు బేతేలునుండి ప్రయాణమై పోయిరి.

15. And Jacob called the name of the place where God had talked with him Bethel [house of God].

16. ఎఫ్రాతాకు వెళ్లు మార్గములో మరికొంత దూరము ఉన్నప్పుడు రాహేలు ప్రసవించుచు ప్రసవవేదనతో ప్రయాసపడెను.

16. And they journeyed from Bethel and had but a little way to go to Ephrath [Bethlehem] when Rachel suffered the pangs of childbirth and had hard labor.

17. ఆమె ప్రసవమువలన ప్రయాసపడుచున్నప్పుడు మంత్రసాని ఆమెతో - భయపడకుము; ఇదియు నీకు కుమారుడగునని చెప్పెను.

17. When she was in hard labor, the midwife said to her, Do not be afraid; you shall have this son also.

18. ఆమె మృతిబొందెను; ప్రాణము పోవుచుండగా ఆమె అతని పేరు బెనోని అనెను; అతని తండ్రి అతనికి బెన్యామీను అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

18. And as her soul was departing, for she died, she called his name Ben-oni [son of my sorrow]; but his father called him Benjamin [son of the right hand].

19. అట్లు రాహేలు మృతిబొంది బేత్లెహేమను ఎఫ్రాతా మార్గమున పాతి పెట్టబడెను.

19. So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath, that is, Bethlehem.

20. యాకోబు ఆమె సమాధిమీద ఒక స్తంభము కట్టించెను. అది నేటి వరకు రాహేలు సమాధి స్తంభము.

20. And Jacob set a pillar (monument) on her grave; that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.

21. ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రయాణమై పోయి మిగ్దల్‌ ఏదెరు కవతల తన గుడారము వేసెను.

21. Then Israel journeyed on and spread his tent on the other side of the tower of Edar.

22. ఇశ్రాయేలు ఆ దేశములో నివసించుచున్నప్పుడు రూబేను వెళ్లి తన తండ్రి ఉపపత్నియైన బిల్హాతో శయనించెను; ఆ సంగతి ఇశ్రాయేలునకు వినబడెను.

22. When Israel dwelt there, Reuben [his eldest son] went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine; and Israel heard about it. Now Jacob's sons were twelve.

23. యాకోబు కుమారులు పండ్రెండుగురు, యాకోబు జ్యేష్ఠకుమారుడగు రూబేను, షిమ్యోను, లేవి, యూదా, ఇశ్శాఖారు, జెబూలూను; వీరు లేయా కుమారులు.

23. The sons of Leah: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

24. రాహేలు కుమారులు యోసేపు, బెన్యామీను.

24. The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

25. రాహేలు దాసియైన బిల్హా కుమారులు దాను, నఫ్తాలి.

25. The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid: Dan and Naphtali.

26. లేయా దాసియైన జిల్పా కుమారులు గాదు, ఆషేరు వీరు పద్దనరాములో యాకోబునకు పుట్టిన కుమారులు.

26. And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's maid: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob born to him in Padan-aram.

27. అబ్రాహామును ఇస్సాకును పరదేశులైయుండిన మమ్రేలో కిర్య తర్బాకు తన తండ్రియైన ఇస్సాకునొద్దకు యాకోబు వచ్చెను. అదే హెబ్రోను.

27. And Jacob came to Isaac his father at Mamre or Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned.

28. ఇస్సాకు బ్రదికిన దినములు నూట ఎనుబది సంవత్సరములు.

28. Now the days of Isaac were 180 years.

29. ఇస్సాకు కాలము నిండిన వృద్ధుడై ప్రాణము విడిచి మృతిబొంది తన పితరుల యొద్దకు చేర్చబడెను. అతని కుమారులైన ఏశావు యాకోబులు అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి.

29. And Isaac's spirit departed; he died and was gathered to his people, being an old man, satisfied and satiated with days; his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
