1. వసంతకాలమున రాజులు యుద్ధమునకు బయలుదేరు సమయమున దావీదు యోవాబును అతనివారిని ఇశ్రా యేలీయులనందరిని పంపగా వారు అమ్మోనీయులను సంహ రించి రబ్బా పట్టణమును ముట్టడివేసిరి; అయితే దావీదు యెరూషలేమునందు నిలిచెను.

1. And it came to pass, when the time of year had come for kings to go out [to battle], that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbath; but David remained at Jerusalem.

2. ఒకానొక దినమున ప్రొద్దు గ్రుంకువేళ దావీదు పడకమీదనుండి లేచి రాజనగరి మిద్దెమీద నడుచుచు పైనుండి చూచుచుండగా స్నానముచేయు ఒక స్త్రీ కనబడెను.

2. And it came to pass toward evening, that David arose off his couch, and walked on the roof of the king's house, and saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

3. ఆమె బహు సౌందర్యవతియై యుండుట చూచి దావీదు దాని సమాచారము తెలిసికొనుటకై యొక దూతను పంపెను, అతడు వచ్చిఆమె ఏలీయాము కుమార్తెయు హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాకు భార్యయునైన బత్షెబ అని తెలియజేయగా

3. And David sent and inquired about the woman. And [one] said, [Is] not this Bathsheba the daughter of Eliab, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

4. దావీదు దూతలచేత ఆమెనుపిలువనంపెను. ఆమె అతని యొద్దకు రాగా అతడు ఆమెతో శయనించెను; కలిగిన అపవిత్రత పోగొట్టుకొని ఆమె తన యింటికి మరల వచ్చెను.

4. And David sent messengers, and took her, and went in to her, and he lay with her. And she was purified from her uncleanness, and returned to her house.

5. ఆ స్త్రీ గర్భవతియైనేను గర్భవతినైతినని దావీదునకు వర్తమానము పంపగా

5. And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

6. దావీదు హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాను నాయొద్దకు పంపుమని దూత ద్వారా యోవాబునకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

6. And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

7. ఊరియా దావీదు నొద్దకు రాగా దావీదు యోవాబు యోగక్షేమ మును జనుల యోగక్షేమమును యుద్ధసమాచారమును అడి గెను.

7. And Uriah arrived and went in to him, and David asked him how Joab was, and how the people were, and how the war was going.

8. తరువాత దావీదుఇంటికి పోయి శ్రమ తీర్చుకొనుమని ఊరియాకు సెలవియ్యగా, ఊరియా రాజ నగరిలోనుండి బయలువెళ్లెను.

8. And David said to Uriah, Go to your house, and wash your feet. And Uriah departed from the house of the king, and a portion [of meat] from the king followed him.

9. అతనివెనుక రాజు ఫలా హారము అతనియొద్దకు పంపించెను గాని ఊరియా తన యింటికి వెళ్లక తన యేలినవాని సేవకులతో కూడ రాజ నగరిద్వారమున పండుకొనెను.

9. And Uriah slept at the door of the king with the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

10. ఊరియా తన యింటికి పోలేదను మాట దావీదునకు వినబడినప్పుడు దావీదు ఊరి యాను పిలిపించినీవు ప్రయాణముచేసి వచ్చితివి గదా; యింటికి వెళ్లకపోతివేమని యడుగగా

10. And they brought David word, saying, Uriah has not gone down to his house. And David said to Uriah, Have you not come from a [long] journey? Why have you not gone down to your house?

11. ఊరియామందస మును ఇశ్రాయేలు వారును యూదావారును గుడారములలో నివసించుచుండగను, నా యధిపతియగు యోవా బును నా యేలినవాడవగు నీ సేవకులును బయట దండులో నుండగను, భోజనపానములు చేయుటకును నా భార్యయొద్ద పరుండుటకును నేను ఇంటికిపోదునా? నీ తోడు నీ ప్రాణముతోడు నేనాలాగు చేయువాడను కానని దావీదుతో అనెను.

11. And Uriah said to David, The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields; and shall I go into my house to eat and drink, and lie with my wife? How [should I do this?] As your soul lives, I will not do this thing.

12. దావీదునేడును నీ విక్కడ నుండుము, రేపు నీకు సెలవిత్తునని ఊరియాతో అనగా ఊరియా నాడును మరునాడును యెరూషలేములో నిలిచెను.

12. And David said to Uriah, Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will let you go. So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the day following.

13. అంతలో దావీదు అతనిని భోజనమునకు పిలిపించెను; అతడు బాగుగా తిని త్రాగిన తరువాత దావీదు అతని మత్తునిగా చేసెను; సాయంత్రమున అతడు బయలు వెళ్లి తన యింటికి పోక తన యేలినవాని సేవకుల మధ్య పడకమీద పండుకొనెను.

13. And David called him, and he ate before him and drank, and he made him drunk. And he went out in the evening to lie upon his bed with the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

14. ఉదయమున దావీదు యుద్ధము మోపుగా జరుగుచున్నచోట ఊరియాను ముందుపెట్టి అతడు కొట్టబడి హతమగునట్లు నీవు అతని యొద్దనుండి వెళ్లి పొమ్మని

14. And the morning came, and David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

15. యోవాబునకు ఉత్తరము వ్రాయించి ఊరియాచేత పంపించెను.

15. And he wrote in the letter, saying, Station Uriah in front of the [most] severe [part] of the fight, and retreat from behind him, that he may be wounded and die.

16. యోవాబు పట్ట ణమును ముట్టడివేయు చుండగా, ధైర్యవంతులుండు స్థల మును గుర్తించి ఆ స్థలమునకు ఊరియాను పంపెను.

16. And it came to pass while Joab was watching against the city, that he set Uriah in a place where he knew that valiant men were.

17. ఆ పట్టణపువారు బయలుదేరి యోవాబుతో యుద్ధమునకు రాగా దావీదు సేవకులలో కొందరు కూలిరి, హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాయును హతమాయెను.

17. And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell, and Uriah the Hittite died also.

18. కాబట్టి యోవాబు యుద్ధ సమాచార మంతయు దావీదునొద్దకు పంపి దూతతో ఇట్లనెను

18. And Joab sent, and reported to David all the events of the war, so as to tell them to the king.

19. యుద్ధసమాచారము నీవు రాజుతో చెప్పి చాలించిన తరువాత రాజు కోపము తెచ్చుకొనియుద్ధము చేయునప్పుడు మీరెందుకు పట్టణము దగ్గరకు పోతిరి?

19. And he commanded the messenger, saying, When you have finished reporting all the events of the war to the king,

20. గోడమీదనుండి వారు అంబులు వేయుదురని మీకు తెలి యక పోయెనా?

20. then it shall come to pass if the anger of the king shall arise, and he shall say to you, Why did you draw near to the city to fight? Did you not know that they would shoot from off the wall?

21. ఎరుబ్బెషెతు కుమారుడైన అబీమెలెకు ఏలాగు హతమాయెను? ఒక స్త్రీ తిరుగటిరాతి తునకఎత్తి గోడమీదనుండి అతని మీద వేసినందున అతడు తేబేసుదగ్గర హతమాయెను గదా? ప్రాకారముదగ్గరకు మీరెందుకు పోతిరని నిన్నడిగినయెడల నీవుతమరి సేవకు డగు ఊరియాయు హతమాయెనని చెప్పుమని బోధించి దూతను పంపెను.

21. Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal, son of Ner? Did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from above the wall, and he died in Thebez? Why did you draw near to the wall? Then you shall say, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.

22. దూత పోయి యోవాబు పంపిన వర్తమానమంతయు దావీదునకు తెలియజేసెను.

22. And the messenger of Joab went to the king to Jerusalem, and he came and reported to David all that Joab had told him, all the affairs of the war. And David was very angry with Joab, and said to the messenger, Why did you draw near to the wall to fight? Did you not know that you would be wounded from off the wall? Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal? Did not a woman cast upon him a piece of millstone from the wall, and he died in Thebez? Why did you draw near to the wall?

23. ఎట్లనగా ఆ మనుష్యులు మమ్మును ఓడించుచు పొలములోనికి మాకెదురు రాగా మేము వారిని గుమ్మమువరకు వెంటాడి గెలిచితివిు.

23. And the messenger said to David, The men prevailed against us, and they came out against us into the field, and we came upon them, even to the door of the gate.

24. అప్పుడు ప్రాకారముమీదనుండి విలుకాండ్రు తమ సేవకులమీద అంబులువేయగా రాజు సేవ కులలో కొందరు హతమైరి, తమరి సేవకుడైన హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాకూడ హతమాయెను.

24. And the archers shot at your servants from off the wall, and some of the king's servants died, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

25. అందుకు దావీదునీవు యోవాబుతో ఈ మాట చెప్పుముఆ సంగతినిబట్టి నీవు చింతపడకుము; ఖడ్గము ఒకప్పుడు ఒకనిమీదను ఒకప్పుడు మరియొకనిమీదను పడుట కద్దు; పట్టణముమీద యుద్ధము మరి బలముగా జరిపి దానిని పడగొట్టుమని చెప్పి, నీవు యోవాబును ధైర్యపరచి చెప్పుమని ఆ దూతకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి పంపెను.

25. And David said to the messenger, Thus shall you say to Joab, Let not the matter be grievous in your eyes, for the sword devours one way at one time and another way at another: strengthen your array against the city, and destroy it, and strengthen him.

26. ఊరియా భార్య తన భర్తయగు ఊరియా హత మైన సంగతి విని తన భర్తకొరకు అంగలార్చెను.

26. And the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, and she mourned for her husband.

27. అంగ లార్పుకాలము తీరిన తరువాత దావీదు దూతలను పంపి ఆమెను తన నగరికి తెప్పించుకొనగా ఆమె అతనికి భార్య యయి అతనికొక కుమారుని కనెను. అయితే దావీదు చేసినది యెహోవా దృష్టికి దుష్కార్యముగా ఉండెను.

27. And the time of mourning expired, and David sent and took her into his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son: but the thing which David did was evil in the eyes of the Lord.
