1. King David grew old, the years took their toll, and he couldn't get warm even when they covered him with bedclothes.

2. His servants said to him, 'Let us try to find a young virgin for my lord the king. She can wait on the king and be a companion for him, and she can lie next to you, so that my lord the king will get some heat.'

3. ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల దేశపు దిక్కులన్నిటిలో తిరిగి ఒక చక్కని చిన్నదాని వెదకి, అబీషగు అను షూనేమీయురాలిని చూచి రాజునొద్దకు తీసికొని వచ్చిరి.

3. After looking through all of Isra'el's territory for a beautiful girl, they found Avishag the Shunamit and brought her to the king.

4. ఈ చిన్నది బహు చక్కనిదై యుండి రాజును ఆదరించి ఉపచారము చేయు చుండెను గాని రాజు దానిని కూడలేదు.

4. The girl was very beautiful and became a companion for the king. She took care of him, but the king did not have sexual relations with her.

5. హగ్గీతు కుమారుడైన అదోనీయా గర్వించిన వాడైనేనే రాజు నగుదునని అనుకొని, రథములను గుఱ్ఱపు రౌతులను తనకు ముందుగా పరుగెత్తుటకు ఏబదిమంది మనుష్యులను ఏర్ప రచుకొనెను.

5. Adoniyah the son of Haggit was beginning to claim that he would be king; to this end he organized chariots and horsemen, with fifty men to run ahead of him.

6. అతని తండ్రినీవు ఈలాగున ఏల చేయు చున్నావని అతనిచేత ఎప్పుడును విచారించి అతనికి నొప్పి కలుగజేయలేదు. చూచుటకు అతడు బహు సౌంద ర్యము గలవాడు, అబ్షాలోము తరువాత పుట్టినవాడు.

6. (His father had never in his life confronted him by asking, 'Why are you behaving this way?' Moreover, he was a very handsome man; he was born next after Avshalom.)

8. But Tzadok the [cohen], B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada, Natan the prophet, Shim'i, Re'i and David's elite guard were not on Adoniyah's side.

9. అదోనీయా ఏన్‌రోగేలు సమీప మందుండు జోహెలేతు అను బండదగ్గర గొఱ్ఱెలను ఎడ్లను క్రొవ్విన దూడలను బలిగా అర్పించి, రాజకుమారు లగు తన సహోదరులనందరిని యూదావారగు రాజు యొక్క సేవకులనందరిని పిలిపించెను గాని

9. One day Adoniyah killed sheep, oxen and fattened calves at the Stone of Zochelet, by 'Ein-Rogel. He summoned all his brothers the king's sons, and all the men of Y'hudah the king's servants;

10. ప్రవక్తయగు నాతానును బెనాయనును దావీదు శూరులను తనకు సహోదరుడైన సొలొమోనును పిలువలేదు.

10. but he did not summon Natan the prophet, B'nayah, the elite guard or Shlomo his brother.

11. అప్పుడు నాతాను సొలొమోను తల్లియైన బత్షెబతో చెప్పిన దేమనగాహగ్గీతు కుమారుడైన అదోనీయా యేలుచున్న సంగతి నీకు వినబడలేదా? అయితే ఈ సంగతి మనయేలినవాడైన దావీదునకు తెలియకయే యున్నది.

11. Natan went to Bat-Sheva the mother of Shlomo and said, 'Haven't you heard that Adoniyah the son of Haggit has become king without the knowledge of David our lord?

12. కాబట్టి నీ ప్రాణమును నీ కుమారుడైన సొలొమోను ప్రాణమును రక్షించుకొనుటకై నేను నీకొక ఆలోచన చెప్పెదను వినుము.

12. Now, come, please let me give you advice, so that you can save both your own life and that of your son Shlomo.

13. నీవు రాజైన దావీదునొద్దకు పోయినా యేలినవాడా, రాజా, అవశ్యముగా నీ కుమారుడైన సొలొమోను నా వెనుక ఏలువాడై నా సింహాసనము మీద ఆసీనుడగునని నీ సేవకురాలనైన నాకు నీవు ప్రమాణ పూర్వకముగా సెలవిచ్చితివే; అదోనీయా యేలుచుండుట యేమని అడుగవలెను.

13. Go, get in to see King David, and say to him, 'My lord, king, didn't you swear to your servant, 'Your son Shlomo will be king after me; he will sit on my throne'? So why is Adoniyah king?'

14. రాజుతో నీవు మాటలాడుచుండగా నేను నీవెనుక లోపలికి వచ్చి నీవు విన్నవించిన మాటలను రూఢిపరచుదునని చెప్పెను.

14. Right then, while you are still talking with the king, I will also come in after you and confirm what you are saying.'

15. కాబట్టి బత్షెబ గదిలోనున్న రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చెను. రాజు బహు వృద్ధుడైనందున షూనేమీయురాలైన అబీషగు రాజును కనిపెట్టు చుండెను.

15. Bat-Sheva went in to the king in his room. (The king was very old; Avishag the Shunamit was in attendance on the king.)

16. బత్షెబ వచ్చి రాజు ఎదుట సాగిలపడి నమస్కారము చేయగా రాజునీ కోరిక ఏమని అడిగి నందుకు ఆమె యీలాగు మనవి చేసెను

16. Bat-Sheva bowed, prostrating herself to the king. The king asked, 'What do you want?'

17. నా యేలిన వాడా, నీవు నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాతోడని నీ సేవకు రాలనైన నాకు ప్రమాణము చేసి అవశ్యముగా నీ కుమారు డైన సొలొమోను నా వెనుక ఏలువాడై నా సింహాసనము మీద ఆసీనుడగునని సెలవిచ్చితివే,

17. She answered him, 'My lord, you swore by ADONAI your God to your servant, 'Your son Shlomo will be king after me; he will sit on my throne.'

18. ఇప్పుడైతే అదోనీయా యేలుచున్నాడు. ఈ సంగతి నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీకు తెలియకయే యున్నది.

18. But now, here is Adoniyah ruling as king; and you, my lord the king, don't know anything about it.

19. అతడు ఎడ్లను క్రొవ్విన దూడలను గొఱ్ఱెలను బలిగా అర్పించి రాజ కుమారులనందరిని యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారును సైన్యాధి పతియైన యోవాబును పిలిపించెను గాని నీ సేవకుడైన సొలొమోనును పిలువలేదు.

19. He has killed oxen, fattened calves and sheep in great numbers; and he has summoned all the sons of the king, Evyatar the [cohen] and Yo'av the commander of the army; but he didn't summon Shlomo your servant.

20. నా యేలినవాడవైన రాజా, నా యేలినవాడవైన రాజవగు నీ తరువాత సింహాసనము మీద ఎవడు ఆసీనుడగునో అందునుగూర్చి ఇశ్రాయేలీయు లందరును కనిపెట్టియున్నారు.

20. As for you, my lord the king, all Isra'el is watching you; they are waiting for you to tell them who is to sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21. ఇదిగాక నా యేలినవాడ వైన రాజవగు నీవు నీ పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రపొందిన తరువాత నేనును నా కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనును అప రాధులముగా ఎంచబడుదుము.

21. If you don't, then, when my lord the king sleeps with his ancestors, I and my son Shlomo will be considered criminals.'

22. ఆమె రాజుతో మాట లాడుచున్నప్పుడు ప్రవక్తయగు నాతానును లోపలికిరాగాప్రవక్తయగు నాతాను వచ్చి యున్నాడని సేవకులు రాజునకు తెలియజేసిరి.

22. Right then, while she was still talking with the king, Natan the prophet entered.

23. అతడు రాజు సన్నిధికి వచ్చి నమస్కారము చేసి సాష్టాంగపడి

23. They told the king, 'Natan the prophet is here.' After coming into the king's presence, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground.

24. నా యేలినవాడవైన రాజా, అదోనీయా నీ తరువాత ఏలువాడై నీ సింహాసనముమీద కూర్చుండునని నీవు సెలవిచ్చితివా?

24. Natan said, 'My lord king, did you say, 'Adoniyah is to be king after me; he will sit on my throne'?

25. ఏలయనగా ఈ దినమున అతడు పోయి విస్తారమైన యెడ్లను క్రొవ్విన దూడలను గొఱ్ఱెలను బలిగా అర్పించి రాజకుమారులనందరిని సైన్యాధిపతులను యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారును పిలిపింపగా వారు వాని సముఖములో అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనుచురాజైన అదోనీయా చిరంజీవి యగునుగాక అని పలుకుచున్నారు.

25. For he has gone down today and killed oxen, fattened calves and sheep in great numbers; and he has summoned all the king's sons, the commanders of the army and Evyatar the [cohen]; right now they are eating and drinking in his presence and proclaiming, 'Long live King Adoniyah!'

26. అయితే నీ సేవకుడనైన నన్నును యాజకుడైన సాదోకును యెహో యాదా కుమారుడైన బెనాయాను నీ సేవకుడైన సొలొమోనును అతడు పిలిచినవాడు కాడు.

26. But he didn't summon me your servant, or Tzadok the [cohen], or B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada or your servant Shlomo.

27. నా యేలినవాడ వును రాజవునగు నీ తరువాత నీ సింహాసనముమీద ఎవడు ఆసీనుడై యుండునో అది నీ సేవకుడనైన నాతో చెప్పక యుందువా? ఈ కార్యము నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవు నగు నీ సెలవు చొప్పున జరుగుచున్నదా? అని యడిగెను.

27. Is this authorized by my lord the king without your having told your servant who would sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?'

28. దావీదు బత్షెబను పిలువుమని సెలవియ్యగా ఆమె రాజు సన్నిధికి వచ్చి రాజు ఎదుట నిలువబడెను.

28. King David answered by saying, 'Summon Bat-Sheva to me.' She entered the king's presence and stood before the king.

29. అప్పుడు రాజు ప్రమాణ పూర్వకముగా చెప్పినదేమనగాసకలమైన ఉపద్రవములలోనుండి నన్ను విడిపించిన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు

29. Then the king swore an oath: 'As ADONAI lives, who has delivered me from all adversity,

30. అవశ్యముగా నీ కుమారుడైన సొలొమోను నా తరువాత ఏలువాడై నాకు ప్రతిగా నా సింహాసనము మీద ఆసీనుడగునని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా నామము తోడని నేను నీకు ప్రమాణము చేసినదానిని ఈ దినముననే నెరవేర్చుదునని చెప్పగా

30. as I swore to you by ADONAI the God of Isra'el, 'Your son Shlomo will be king after me; he will sit on my throne in my place,' so will I do today.'

31. బత్షెబ సాగిల పడి రాజునకు నమస్కారము చేసినా యేలినవాడైన రాజగు దావీదు సదాకాలము బ్రదుకును గాక అనెను.

31. Bat-Sheva bowed with her face to the ground, prostrating herself to the king, and said, 'Let my lord King David live forever.'

32. అప్పుడు రాజైన దావీదుయాజకుడైన సాదోకును ప్రవక్త యైన నాతానును యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన బెనా యాను నాయొద్దకు పిలువుమని సెలవియ్యగా వారు రాజు సన్నిధికి వచ్చిరి.

32. King David said, 'Summon Tzadok the [cohen], Natan the prophet and B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada.' They came before the king.

33. అంతట రాజుమీరు మీ యేలిన వాడనైన నా సేవకులను పిలుచుకొని పోయి నా కుమారు డైన సొలొమోనును నా కంచర గాడిదమీద ఎక్కించి గిహోనునకు తీసికొనిపోయి

33. The king said to them, 'Take with you the servants of your lord, have Shlomo my son ride on my own mule and bring him down to Gichon.

34. యాజకుడైన సాదోకును ప్రవక్తయైన నాతానును అక్కడ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిన తరువాత మీరు బాకానాదము చేసిరాజైన సొలొమోను చిరంజీవి యగునుగాక అని ప్రకటన చేయవలెను.

34. There Tzadok the [cohen] and Natan the prophet are to anoint him king over Isra'el. Sound the [shofar] and say, 'Long live King Shlomo!'

35. ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదను యూదావారిమీదను నేనతనిని అధికారిగా నియమించి యున్నాను గనుక పిమ్మట మీరు యెరూష లేమునకు అతని వెంటరాగా అతడు నా సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడై నాకు ప్రతిగా రాజగును అని సెలవిచ్చెను.

35. Then escort him back; he is to come and sit on my throne; for he is to take my place as king. I have appointed him to rule over Isra'el and Y'hudah.'

36. అందుకు యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన బెనాయా రాజు నకు ప్రత్యుత్తరముగా ఇట్లనెనుఆలాగు జరుగును గాక, నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఆ మాటను స్థిరపరచును గాక.

36. B'nayah responded to the king by saying, '[Amen]! May ADONAI, the God of my lord the king, confirm it!

37. యెహోవా నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీకు తోడుగా నుండినట్లు ఆయన సొలొమోనునకు తోడుగానుండి, నా యేలినవాడైన రాజగు దావీదుయొక్క రాజ్యముకంటె అతని రాజ్యము ఘనముగా చేయునుగాక అనెను;

37. Just as ADONAI has been with my lord the king, so may he be with Shlomo and make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord King David!'

38. కాబట్టి యాజకుడైన సాదోకును ప్రవక్తయైన నాతానును యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన బెనాయాయును కెరేతీయులును పెలేతీయు లును రాజైన దావీదు కంచరగాడిదమీద సొలొమోనును ఎక్కించి గిహోనునకు తీసికొని రాగా

38. So Tzadok the [cohen], Natan the prophet, B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada and the K'reti and P'leti went down, had Shlomo ride on King David's mule and brought him to Gichon.

39. యాజకుడైన సాదోకు గుడారములోనుండి తైలపు కొమ్మును తెచ్చి సొలొమోనునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసెను. అప్పుడు వారు బాకా ఊదగా కూడిన జనులందరునురాజైన సొలొమోను చిరంజీవియగునుగాక అని కేకలువేసిరి

39. Tzadok the [cohen] took the horn of olive oil out of the tent and anointed Shlomo. They sounded the [shofar], and all the people shouted, 'Long live King Shlomo!'

40. మరియు ఆ జనులందరును అతని వెంబడివచ్చి పిల్లనగ్రోవులను ఊదుచు, వాటి నాదముచేత నేల బద్దలగునట్లు అత్యధిక ముగా సంతోషించిరి.

40. All the people escorted him back, playing flutes and rejoicing greatly, so that the earth shook with the sound.

41. అదోనీయాయును అతడు పిలిచిన వారందరును విందులో ఉండగా విందు ముగియబోవు సమయమున ఆ చప్పుడు వారికి వినబడెను. యోవాబు బాకానాదము వినిపట్టణమునందు ఈ అల్లరి యేమని యడుగగా

41. Adoniyah and all his guests heard it while they were finishing their meal; but it was Yo'av who, when he heard the blast on the [shofar], asked, 'That noise- what's the meaning of this uproar in the city?'

42. యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను వచ్చెను. అదోనీయాలోపలికి రమ్ము, నీవు ధైర్యవంతుడవు, నీవు శుభ సమాచారములతో వచ్చుచున్నావనగా

42. While he was still speaking, there came Yonatan the son of Evyatar the [cohen]. Adoniyah said, 'Come in! You're a worthy man, so you must be bringing good news!'

43. యోనాతాను అదోనీయాతో ఇట్లనెనునిజముగా మన యేలినవాడును రాజునగు దావీదు సొలొమోనును రాజుగా నియమించియున్నాడు.

43. Yonatan answered Adoniyah, 'The truth is, our lord King David has made Shlomo king.

44. రాజు యాజకుడైన సాదోకును ప్రవక్తయైన నాతానును యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన బెనా యానును కెరేతీయులను పెలేతీయులను అతనితోకూడ పంపగా వారు రాజు కంచరగాడిదమీద అతని నూరే గించిరి;

44. Moreover, the king sent with him Tzadok the [cohen], Natan the prophet, B'nayah the son of Y'hoyada and the K'reti and P'leti; they had him ride on the king's mule;

45. యాజకుడైన సాదోకును ప్రవక్తయైన నాతానును గిహోను దగ్గర అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి; అక్కడ నుండి వారు సంతోషముగా వచ్చియున్నారు; అందువలన పట్టణము అల్లరి ఆయెను; మీకు వినబడిన ధ్వని యిదే.

45. and Tzadok the [cohen] and Natan the prophet anointed him king in Gichon. Then they escorted him back from there rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar; this is the noise you've been hearing.

46. మరియు సొలొమోను రాజ్యాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడై యున్నాడు;

46. Moreover, Shlomo is now sitting on the throne of the kingdom.

47. అందుకై రాజు సేవకులు మన యేలినవాడును రాజునగు దావీదునకు కృతజ్ఞతలు చెల్లింప వచ్చి, నీకు కలిగిన ఖ్యాతి కంటె సొలొమోనునకు ఎక్కువైన ఖ్యాతి కలుగునట్లును, నీ రాజ్యముకంటె అతని రాజ్యము ఘనముగా ఉండునట్లును దేవుడు దయచేయును గాక అని చెప్పగా రాజు మంచముమీద సాగిలపడి నమ స్కారము చేసి యిట్లనెను

47. More than that, the king's servants came and blessed our lord King David with these words: 'May God make the name of Shlomo better than your name and his throne greater than your throne,' after which the king bowed down on the bed.

48. నేను సజీవినై యుండగా ఈ దినమున జరిగినట్లు నా సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడగుటకు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఒకని నాకు దయచేసినందుకు ఆయనకు స్తోత్రము కలుగునుగాక అనెను.

48. Finally, the king said, 'Blessed be ADONAI the God of Isra'el, who has given someone to sit on my throne today, when my own eyes can see it.''

49. అందుకు అదోనీయా పిలిచిన వారు భయపడి లేచి తమ తమ యిండ్లకు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

49. At this all Adoniyah's guests grew frightened; they got up, everyone going his own way.

50. అదోనీయా సొలొమోనునకు భయపడి లేచి బయలుదేరి బలిపీఠపు కొమ్ములను పట్టుకొనెను.

50. Adoniyah too was afraid because of Shlomo; he got up, went and took hold of the horns of the altar.

51. అదోనీయా రాజైన సొలొ మోనునకు భయపడి బలిపీఠపు కొమ్ములను పట్టుకొనిరాజైన సొలొమోను తన సేవకుడనైన నన్ను కత్తిచేత చంపకుండ ఈ దినమున నాకు ప్రమాణము చేయవలెనని మనవి చేయుచున్నట్లు సొలొమోనునకు సమాచారము రాగా

51. Shlomo was told, 'Here, Adoniyah is terrified of King Shlomo; he has grabbed hold of the horns of the altar and is saying, 'First let King Shlomo swear to me that he will not have his servant executed.''

52. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను అతడు తన్ను యోగ్యునిగా అగుపరచుకొనిన యెడల అతని తల వెండ్రుకలలో ఒకటైనను క్రిందపడదు గాని అతనియందు దౌష్ట్యము కనబడిన యెడల అతనికి మరణశిక్ష వచ్చునని సెలవిచ్చి

52. Shlomo said, 'If he will demonstrate that he is a worthy man, not a hair of his will fall to the earth. But if he is found making trouble, he will die.'

53. బలిపీఠమునొద్దనుండి అతని పిలువనంపించెను; అతడు వచ్చి రాజైన సొలొమోను ఎదుట సాష్టాంగపడగా సొలొమోను అతనితోనీ యింటికి పొమ్మని సెలవిచ్చెను.

53. So King Shlomo sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and prostrated himself before King Shlomo; and Shlomo said to him, 'Go on home.''
