1. తరువాత అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు రాజై ఇశ్రాయేలు తన మీదికి రాకుండతన రాజ్యమును బలపరచుకొనెను.

1. Jehoshaphat his son became king in his place, and made himself strong against Israel.

2. అతడు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకార పురములన్నిటియందును సైన్యములను ఉంచి, యూదా దేశమందును తన తండ్రియైన ఆసా పట్టుకొనిన ఎఫ్రాయిము పట్టణములయందును కావలి బలములను ఉంచెను.

2. He placed soldiers in all the strong cities of Judah, and in places built for them in the land of Judah. And he put soldiers in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had taken in battle.

3. యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయుడై యుండగా యెహోషాపాతు తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు ప్రారంభదినములలో నడచిన మార్గమందు నడచుచు

3. The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the early ways of his father. He did not follow the false gods of Baal.

4. బయలు దేవతను ఆశ్రయింపక తన తండ్రి దేవుని ఆశ్ర యించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి చర్యలను వెంబడింపక ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలననుసరించి నడిచెను.

4. He looked to the God of his father, followed His Laws, and did not act as Israel did.

5. కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతనిచేత రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచెను, యూదావారందరును యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్ను ఇచ్చుచుండిరి, అతనికి ఐశ్వ ర్యమును ఘనతయు మెండుగా కలిగెను.

5. So the Lord made the nation strong under his rule. And all Judah paid taxes to Jehoshaphat. He had great riches and honor.

6. యెహోవా మార్గములయందు నడుచుకొనుటకు అతడు తన మనస్సును దృఢపరచుకొనినవాడై ఉన్నత స్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదాలోనుండి తీసివేసెను.

6. He was strong in his heart in the ways of the Lord. And he took the high places and the false goddess Asherah out of Judah again.

7. తన యేలుబడియందు మూడవ సంవత్సరమున యూదా పట్టణములలో జనులకు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును బోధించుటకై అతడు పెద్దలైన బెన్హయీలును ఓబద్యాను జెకర్యాను నెతనేలును మీకాయాను

7. In the third year of his rule, Jehoshaphat sent his leaders to teach in the cities of Judah. He sent Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah.

8. షెమయా నెతన్యా జెబద్యా అశాహేలు షెమిరామోతు యెహోనాతాను అదోనీయా టోబీయా టోబదోనీయా అను లేవీయులను, యాజకులైన ఎలీషామాను యెహోరామును బంపెను.

8. With them he sent the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah. And with them he sent the religious leaders, Elishama and Jehoram.

9. వారు యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథమును చేత పుచ్చుకొని యూదావారిమధ్య ప్రకటనచేయుచు, యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటను సంచరించుచు జనులకు బోధించిరి.

9. They taught in Judah, having the book of the Law of the Lord with them. They went through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

10. యూదా దేశము చుట్టు ఉండు దేశముల రాజ్యములన్నిటి మీదికియెహోవా భయము వచ్చినందున వారు యెహోషా పాతుతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండిరి.

10. The fear of the Lord was on all the nations of the lands around Judah. So they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.

11. ఫిలిష్తీయులలో కొందరు యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్నును కానుకలను ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అరబీయులును అతనికి ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లను ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల మేక పోతులను తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts, and silver for taxes. The Arabians brought him flocks, 7700 rams and 7700 male goats.

12. యెహోషాపాతు అంతకంతకు గొప్పవాడై యూదా దేశమునందు కోటలను సామగ్రిని నిలువచేయు పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

12. So Jehoshaphat became greater and greater. And he built strong places and store-cities in Judah.

13. యూదాదేశపు పట్టణములలో అతనికి బహు ధనము సమకూర్చబడెను. అతని క్రింది పరా క్రమశాలులు యెరూషలేములో కూడియుండిరి.

13. He had many things in the cities of Judah. And he had powerful soldiers in Jerusalem.

14. వీరి పితరుల వంశములచొప్పున వీరి సంఖ్య యెంతనగా, యూదాలో సహస్రాధిపతులైన వారికి ప్రధానుడగు అద్నాయొద్ద మూడు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

14. This was the number of them by their fathers' houses: Adnah was the captain of thousands from Judah. He had 300,000 powerful soldiers with him.

15. రెండవవాడగు యెహోహానాను అను అధిపతియొద్ద రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబదివేలమంది యుండిరి.

15. Next to him was Johanan, the captain of 280,000.

16. మూడవవాడు జిఖ్రీ కుమారుడై యెహోవాకు తన్నుతాను మనఃపూర్వకముగా సమర్పించుకొనిన అమస్యా; అతనియొద్ద రెండు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

16. Next to him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who gave himself to work for the Lord. He had 200,000 powerful soldiers with him.

17. బెన్యామీనీయులలో ఎల్యాదా అను పరాక్రమశాలి యొకడుండెను; వీనియొద్ద వింటిని కేడెమును పట్టుకొనువారు రెండు లక్షలమంది యుండిరి.

17. Eliada was a powerful soldier of the family of Benjamin. He had with him 200,000 men with bows and battle-coverings.

18. రెండవవాడు యెహోజాబాదు; వీనియొద్ద లక్షయెనుబదివేలమంది యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులుండిరి.

18. Next to him was Jehozabad, the captain of 180,000 ready for war.

19. రాజు యూదాయందంతటనుండు ప్రాకారపురములలో ఉంచినవారు గాక వీరు రాజుయొక్క పరివారములో చేరినవారై యుండిరి.

19. These are the men who served the king, as well as those whom the king put in the strong cities through all Judah.
