1. మేము గోడ కట్టుచున్న సమాచారము విని సన్బల్లటు మిగుల కోపగించి రౌద్రుడై యూదులను ఎగతాళిచేసి

1. But when Sanvalat, Toviyah, the Arabs, the 'Amonim and the Ashdodim heard that the repairs on the walls of Yerushalayim were going forward, and the breaks were being filled in, they became very angry.

2. షోమ్రోను దండువారి యెదుటను తన స్నేహితుల యెదు టను ఇట్లనెనుదుర్బలులైన యీ యూదులు ఏమి చేయుదురు? తమంతట తామే యీ పని ముగింతురా? బలులు అర్పించి బలపరచుకొందురా?ఒక దినమందే ముగింతురా?కాల్చబడిన చెత్తను కుప్పలుగాపడిన రాళ్లను మరల బలమైనవిగా చేయుదురా?

2. All of them together plotted to come and fight against Yerushalayim and thus throw us into confusion.

3. మరియు అమ్మోనీయుడైన టోబీయా అతనియొద్దను ఉండివారు కట్టినదానిపైకి ఒక నక్క యెగిరినట్టయిన వారి రాతిగోడ పడిపోవుననెను.

3. However, we prayed to our God and, because of them, organized a watch against them day and night.

4. మా దేవా ఆలకించుము, మేము తిరస్కారము నొందిన వారము; వారి నింద వారి తలలమీదికి వచ్చునట్లుచేసి, వారు చెరపట్టబడినవారై వారు నివసించు దేశములోనే వారిని దోపునకు అప్పగించుము.

4. Y'hudah was saying, 'The strength of the people who carry loads away is starting to fail, and there is so much rubble that we can't build the wall.'

5. వారు కట్టువారినిబట్టి నీకు కోపము పుట్టించి యుండిరి గనుక వారి దోషమును పరిహరింపకుము, నీయెదుట వారి పాపమును తుడిచి వేయకుము.

5. Our enemies were saying, 'They won't know or see anything, until we have already infiltrated them and begun killing them and stopping the work.'

6. అయినను పని చేయుటకు జనులకు మనస్సు కలిగియుండెను గనుక మేము గోడను కట్టుచుంటిమి, అది సగము ఎత్తు కట్టబడి యుండెను.

6. And even the Judeans living near them came and must have said to us ten times, 'From every place you must come back to us.'

7. సన్బల్లటును టోబీయాయును అరబీయులును అమ్మో నీయులును అష్డోదీయులును, యెరూషలేముయొక్క గోడలు కట్టబడెననియు, బీటలన్నియు కప్పబడెననియు వినినప్పుడు

7. So in the lower parts of the space behind the wall, I stationed men according to their families, with their swords, spears and bows.

8. మిగుల కోపపడి యెరూషలేము మీదికి యుద్ధమునకు వచ్చి, పని ఆటంకపరచవలెనని వారందరు కట్టుకట్టి మమ్మును కలతపరచగా,

8. After inspecting them, I stood up and addressed the nobles, leaders and the rest of the people: 'Don't be afraid of them! Remember [Adonai], who is great and fearful; and fight for your brothers, sons, daughters, wives and homes.'

9. మేము మా దేవునికి ప్రార్థనచేసి, వారి భయముచేత రాత్రింబగళ్లు కావలి యుంచితివిు.

9. When our enemies heard that the plot was known to us, and God had foiled their plans, we all returned to the wall, everyone to his work.

10. అప్పుడు యూదావారుబరువులు మోయువారి బలము తగ్గిపోయెను, ఉన్న చెత్త విస్తారము, గోడ కట్టలేమని చెప్పగా,

10. From then on, half of my men would do the work; and half of them held the spears, shields, bows and armor; while the leaders stood guard behind the entire house of Y'hudah,

11. మా విరోధులునువారు తెలిసికొనకుండను చూడకుండను మనము వారిమధ్యకు చొరబడి వారిని చంపి పని ఆటంకపరచుదమనిరి.

11. as they continued building the wall. Those who carried loads held their loads with one hand and carried a weapon in the other.

12. మా శత్రువులయొద్ద నివాసులైయున్న యూదులు వచ్చినలు దిక్కులనుండి మీరు మా సహాయమునకు రావలెనని మాటి మాటికి మాతో చెప్పగా

12. As for the construction-workers, each one had his sword sheathed at his side; that is how they built. The man to sound the alarm on the [shofar] stayed with me.

13. అందు నిమిత్తము గోడవెనుక నున్న దిగువ స్థలములలోను పైనున్న స్థలములలోను జనులను వారి వారి కుటుంబముల ప్రకారముగా వారి కత్తులతోను వారి యీటెలతోను వారి విండ్లతోను నిలిపితిని.

13. I said to the nobles, the leaders and the rest of the people, 'This is a great work, and it is spread out; we are separated on the wall, one far from another.

14. అంతట నేను లేచి చూచి ప్రధానులతోను అధికారులతోను జనులతోనువారికి మీరు భయపడకుడి, మహా ఘనుడును భయంకరుడునగు యెహోవాను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొని, మీ సహోదరుల పక్షముగాను మీ కుమారుల పక్షముగాను మీ కుమార్తెల పక్షముగాను మీ భార్యల పక్షముగాను మీ నివాసము మీకుండునట్లు యుద్ధము చేయుడి అంటిని.

14. But wherever you are, when you hear the sound of the [shofar], come to that place, to us. Our God will fight for us!'

15. వారి యోచన మాకు తెలియబడెననియు, దేవుడు దానిని వ్యర్థము చేసెననియు మా శత్రువులు సమాచారము వినగా, మాలో ప్రతివాడును తన పనికి గోడదగ్గరకు వచ్చెను.

15. So we kept doing the work. Half of them held spears from daybreak until the stars appeared.

16. అయితే అప్పటినుండి నా పని వారిలో సగము మంది పనిచేయుచు వచ్చిరి, సగముమంది యీటెలును బల్లెములును విండ్లును కవచములును ధరించినవారై వచ్చిరి; అధికారులు యూదులలో ఆ యా యింటివారి వెనుక నిలిచిరి.

16. Also at that time I told the people, 'Let everyone with a servant stay the night within Yerushalayim, so that at night they can be a guard for us, even as they work during the day.'

17. గోడ కట్టువారును బరువులు మోయువారును బరువులు ఎత్తువారును, ఒక్కొక్కరు ఒక చేతితో పనిచేసి ఒక చేతితో ఆయుధము పట్టుకొని యుండిరి.

17. I, my kinsmen, my servants and my bodyguards never took off our clothes, and everyone who went to get water took his weapon.
