1. పిమ్మట దావీదు రామాలోని నాయోతునుండి పారి పోయి యోనాతాను నొద్దకు వచ్చినేను ఏమి చేసితిని? నేను చేసిన దోషమేమి? నా ప్రాణము తీయ వెదకునట్లు నీ తండ్రి దృష్టికి నేను చేసిన పాపమేమని యడుగగా

1. David fled from the prophets' dormitory in Ramah, returned to Y'honatan and said, 'What have I done? Where have I gone wrong? What sin have I committed that makes your father want to take my life?'

2. యానాతానుఆ మాట నీవెన్నటికిని అనుకొనవద్దు, నీవు చావవు; నాకు తెలియజేయకుండ నా తండ్రి చిన్న కార్యమే గాని పెద్దకార్యమేగాని చేయడు; నా తండ్రి ఇదెందుకు నాకు మరుగుచేయుననగా

2. Y'honatan replied, 'Heaven forbid! You're not going to die! Look, my father does nothing important or unimportant without telling me first; so why should my father hide this from me? It just won't happen!'

3. దావీదునేను నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలుడనను సంగతి నీ తండ్రి రూఢిగా తెలిసికొని, యోనాతానునకు చింత కలుగకుండుటకై యిది అతనికి తెలుపననుకొనుచున్నాడు; అయితే యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు నిజముగా నాకును మరణమునకును అడుగు మాత్రమున్నదని ప్రమాణము చేయగా

3. In response David swore, 'Your father knows very well that you have made me your friend. This is why he will say, 'Y'honatan must not know this, or he will be unhappy.' As truly as ADONAI lives, and as truly as you are alive, there is only a step between me and death.'

4. యోనాతానునీకేమి తోచునో దానినే నేను నీ యెడల జరుపుదు ననెను.

4. Y'honatan said to David, 'Anything you want me to do for you, I'll do.'

5. అందుకు దావీదురేపటిదినము అమా వాస్య; అప్పుడు నేను తప్పక రాజుతోకూడ కూర్చుండి భోజనము చేయవలెను; అయితే ఎల్లుండి సాయంత్రమువరకు చేనిలో దాగుటకు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము.

5. David answered Y'honatan, 'Look, tomorrow is [Rosh-Hodesh], and I ought to be dining with the king. Instead, let me go and hide myself in the countryside until evening of the third day.

6. ఇంతలో నీ తండ్రి నేను లేకపోవుట కనుగొనగా నీవు ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. దావీదు ఇంటివారికి ఏటేట బలి చెల్లించుమర్యాద కద్దు. కాబట్టి అతడు బేత్లెహేమను తన పట్టణమునకు పోవలెనని నన్ను బ్రతిమాలి నాయొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చు కొనెను.

6. If your father misses me at all, say, 'David begged me to let him hurry to Beit-Lechem, his city; because it's the annual sacrifice there for his whole family.'

7. అతడుమంచిదని సెలవిచ్చిన యెడల నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు క్షేమమే కలుగును; అతడు బహుగా కోపించినయెడల అతడు నాకు కీడుచేయ తాత్పర్యము గలవాడై యున్నాడని నీవు తెలిసికొని

7. If he says, 'Very good,' then your servant will be all right. But if he gets angry, you will know that he has planned something bad.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు ఒక ఉపకారము చేయవలెను; ఏమనగా యెహోవా పేరట నీతో నిబంధన చేయుటకై నీవు నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రప్పించితివి; నాయందు దోషమేమైన ఉండిన యెడల నీ తండ్రియొద్దకు నన్నెందుకు తోడుకొని పోదువు? నీవే నన్ను చంపుమని యోనాతానునొద్ద మనవి చేయగా

8. Therefore show kindness to your servant, for you bound your servant to yourself by a covenant before [ADONAI.] But if I have done something wrong, kill me yourself! Why turn me over to your father?'

9. యోనాతానుఆ మాట ఎన్నటికిని అనరాదు; నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని నాకు నిశ్చయమైతే నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదును గదా అని అనగా

9. Y'honatan said, 'Heaven forbid! If I ever were to learn that my father had definitely decided to do you harm, wouldn't I tell you?'

10. దావీదునీ తండ్రి నన్నుగూర్చి నీతో కఠినముగా మాటలాడినయెడల దాని నాకు తెలియజేయువారెవరని యోనాతాను నడిగెను.

10. Then David asked Y'honatan, 'Who will tell me in the event your father gives you a harsh answer?'

11. అందుకు యోనాతానుపొలము లోనికి వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా, ఇద్దరును పొలములోనికి పోయిరి.

11. Y'honatan said to David, 'Come, let's go out in the countryside.' They went out, both of them, to the countryside.

12. అప్పుడు యోనాతానుఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సాక్షి; రేపైనను ఎల్లుండియైనను ఈ వేళప్పుడు నా తండ్రిని శోధింతును; అప్పుడు దావీదునకు క్షేమ మవునని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల నేను ఆ వర్తమానము నీకు పంపక పోవుదునా?

12. Y'honatan said to David, 'ADONAI, the God of Isra'el [[is witness]]: after I have sounded out my father, about this time tomorrow, or the third day, then, if things look good for David, I will send and let you know.

13. అయితే నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల దాని నీకు తెలియజేసి నీవు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లునట్లు నిన్ను పంపివేయనియెడల యెహోవా నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుగాక. యెహోవా నా తండ్రికి తోడుగా ఉండినట్లు నీకును తోడుగా ఉండునుగాక.

13. But if my father intends to do you harm, may ADONAI do as much and more to me if I don't let you know and send you away, so that you can go in peace. And may ADONAI be with you, just as he used to be with my father.

14. అయితే నేను బ్రదికియుండినయెడల నేను చావకుండ యెహోవా దయచూపునట్లుగా నీవు నాకు దయచూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి,

14. However, you are to show me ADONAI's kindness not only while I am alive, so that I do not die;

15. నేను చనిపోయినయెడల యెహోవా దావీదు శత్రువులను ఒకడైన భూమిమీద నిలువకుండ నిర్మూలము చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నా సంతతివారికి దయ చూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి యెహోవా నిన్ను విసర్జించును గాక.

15. but also, after ADONAI has eliminated every one of David's enemies from the face of the earth, you are to continue showing kindness to my family forever.'

16. ఈలాగున యెహోవా దావీదుయొక్క శత్రువుల చేత దాని విచారించునట్లుగా యోనాతాను దావీదు సంతతివారిని బట్టి నిబంధన చేసెను.

16. Thus Y'honatan made a covenant with the family of David, adding, 'May ADONAI seek its fulfillment even through David's enemies.'

17. యోనాతాను దావీదును తన ప్రాణస్నేహితునిగా ప్రేమించెను గనుక ఆ ప్రేమనుబట్టి దావీదుచేత మరల ప్రమాణము చేయించెను.

17. Y'honatan had David swear it again, because of the love he had for him- he loved him as he loved himself.

18. మరియు యోనాతాను దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెనురేపటిదినము అమావాస్య; నీ స్థలము ఖాళిగా కనబడును గదా;

18. Y'honatan said to him, 'Tomorrow is [Rosh-Hodesh], and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.

19. నీవు మూడు దినములు ఆగి, యీ పని జరుగు చుండగా నీవు దాగియున్న స్థలమునకు త్వరగా వెళ్లి ఏసెలు అనుబండ దగ్గర నుండుము

19. The third day, hide yourself well in the same place as you did before; stay by the Departure Stone.

20. గురి చూచి ప్రయో గించినట్టు నేను మూడు బాణములను దాని ప్రక్కకు కొట్టి

20. I will shoot three arrows to one side, as if I were shooting at a target.

21. నీవు వెళ్లి బాణములను వెదకుమని ఒక పనివానితో చెప్పుదునుబాణములు నీకు ఈ తట్టున నున్నవి, పట్టుకొని రమ్మని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల నీవు బయటికి రావచ్చును; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీకు ఏ అపా యమును రాక క్షేమమే కలుగును.

21. Then I will send my boy to recover them. If I tell the boy, 'They're here on this side of you, take them,' then come- it means that everything is peaceful for you; as ADONAI lives, there's nothing wrong.

22. అయితేబాణములు నీకు అవతల నున్నవని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల పారిపొమ్మని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలిసికొని నీవు ప్రయాణమై పోవలెను.

22. But if I tell the boy, 'The arrows are out there, beyond you,' then get going, because ADONAI is sending you away.

23. అయితే మనమిద్దరము మాటలాడిన సంగతిని జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము; నీకును నాకును సర్వకాలము యెహోవాయే సాక్షి.

23. As for the matter we discussed earlier, ADONAI is between you and me forever.'

24. కాబట్టి దావీదు పొలములో దాగుకొనెను; అమావాస్య వచ్చినప్పుడు రాజు భోజనము చేయకూర్చుండగా

24. So David hid himself in the countryside. When [Rosh-Hodesh] came, the king sat down to eat his meal.

25. మునుపటివలెనే రాజు గోడదగ్గర నున్న స్థలమందు తన ఆసనముమీద కూర్చునియుండెను. యోనాతాను లేవగా అబ్నేరు సౌలునొద్ద కూర్చుండెను; అయితే దావీదు స్థలము ఖాళిగా నుండెను.

25. The king sat at his usual place by the wall. Y'honatan stood up, and Avner sat next to Sha'ul, but David's place was empty.

26. అయినను అతనికి ఏదో ఒకటి సంభవించినందున అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండునేమో, అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండుట యవశ్యమని సౌలు అనుకొని ఆ దినమున ఏమియు అనలేదు.

26. However, Sha'ul didn't say anything that day; because he thought, 'Something has happened to him, he is unclean. Yes, that's it, he isn't clean.'

27. అయితే అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు, అనగా రెండవ దినమున దావీదు స్థలములో ఎవడును లేకపోవుట చూచి సౌలునిన్నయు నేడును యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భోజనమునకు రాక పోవుట ఏమని యోనాతాను నడుగగా

27. The day after [Rosh-Hodesh], the second day, David's place was empty; and Sha'ul said to Y'honatan his son, 'Why hasn't Yishai's son come to the meal either yesterday or today?'

28. యోనా తానుదావీదు బేత్లెహేమునకు పోవలెనని కోరి

28. Y'honatan answered Sha'ul, 'David begged me to let him go to Beit-Lechem.

29. దయచేసి నన్ను పోనిమ్ము, పట్టణమందు మా యింటివారు బలి అర్పింపబోవుచున్నారునీవును రావలెనని నా సహోదరుడు నాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను గనుక నీ దృష్టికి నేను దయ పొందిన వాడనైతే నేను వెళ్లి నా సహోదరులను దర్శించునట్లుగా నాకు సెలవిమ్మని బ్రతి మాలుకొని నాయొద్ద సెలవు తీసికొనెను; అందు నిమిత్తమే అతడు రాజు భోజనపు బల్ల యొద్దకు రాలేదని సౌలుతో చెప్పగా

29. He said, 'Please let me go, because our family has a sacrifice in the city, and my brother demanded that I come. So now, if you look on me favorably, please let me get away and see my brothers.' That's why he hasn't come to the king's table.'

30. సౌలు యోనా తానుమీద బహుగా కోపపడి - ఆగడగొట్టుదాని కొడుకా, నీకును నీ తల్లి మానమునకును సిగ్గుకలుగునట్లుగా నీవు యెష్షయి కుమారుని స్వీకరించిన సంగతి నాకు తెలిసి నది కాదా?

30. At that Sha'ul flew into a rage at Y'honatan and said, 'You crooked rebel! Don't I know that you've made this son of Yishai your best friend? You don't care that you're shaming yourself and dishonoring your mother, do you?

31. యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భూమిమీద బ్రదుకునంత కాలము నీకైనను నీ రాజ్యమునకైనను స్థిరత కలుగదు గదా; కాబట్టి నీవు వర్తమానము పంపి అతనిని నా దగ్గరకు రప్పించుము, నిజముగా అతడు మరణమున కర్హుడని చెప్పెను.

31. Because as long as the son of Yishai lives on this earth, neither you nor your kingdom will be secure. Now send and bring him here to me- he deserves to die.'

32. అంతట యోనాతాను అత డెందుకు మరణ శిక్ష నొందవలెను? అతడు ఏమి చేసెనని సౌలు నడుగగా

32. Y'honatan answered Sha'ul his father, 'Why should he be put to death? What has he done?'

33. సౌలు అతనిని పొడువవలెనని యీటె విసిరెను; అందువలన తన తండ్రి దావీదును చంపనుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని యోనా తాను తెలిసికొని

33. But Sha'ul threw his spear at him, aiming to kill; Y'honatan could no longer doubt that his father was determined to put David to death.

34. అత్యాగ్రహుడై బల్ల యొద్దనుండి లేచి, తన తండ్రి దావీదును అవమానపరచినందున అతని నిమిత్తము దుఃఖాక్రాంతుడై అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు భోజనము చేయకుండెను.

34. Y'honatan got up from the table in a fury, and he ate no food the second day of the month, both because he was upset over David and because his father had put him to shame.

35. ఉదయమున యోనాతాను దావీదుతో నిర్ణయముచేసి కొనిన వేళకు ఒక పనివాని పిలుచుకొని పొలములోనికి పోయెను.

35. The next morning Y'honatan went out into the country at the time he had arranged with David, taking with him a young boy.

36. నీవు పరుగెత్తికొనిపోయి నేను వేయు బాణ ములను వెదకుమని ఆ పనివానితో అతడు చెప్పగా వాడు పరుగెత్తుచున్నప్పుడు అతడు ఒక బాణము వాని అవతలకు వేసెను.

36. He told the boy, 'Now run and find the arrows I'm about to shoot.' As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

37. అయితే వాడు యోనాతాను వేసిన బాణము ఉన్నచోటునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడు యోనాతాను వాని వెనుకనుండి కేక వేసి - బాణము నీ అవతలనున్నదని చెప్పి

37. When the boy reached the place where the arrow was that Y'honatan had shot, Y'honatan shouted at the boy, 'Isn't the arrow beyond you?'

38. వాని వెనుక నుండి కేకవేసినీవు ఆలస్యము చేయక దబ్బున రమ్మనెను; యోనాతాను పనివాడు బాణములను కూర్చుకొని తన యజమానునియొద్దకు వాటిని తీసికొని వచ్చెను గాని

38. Y'honatan continued shouting after the boy, 'Quick! Hurry! Don't just stand there!' Y'honatan's boy gathered the arrows and returned to his master,

39. సంగతి ఏమియు వానికి తెలియక యుండెను. యోనాతానునకును దావీదునకును మాత్రము ఆ సంగతి తెలిసి యుండెను.

39. but the boy didn't understand anything about the matter- only Y'honatan and David understood.

40. యోనాతాను తన ఆయుధములను వాని చేతికిచ్చివీటిని పట్టణ మునకు తీసికొని పొమ్మని చెప్పి వాని పంపివేసెను.

40. Y'honatan gave his weapons to his boy and said to him, 'Go, carry them to the city.'

41. వాడు వెళ్లిపోయిన వెంటనే దావీదు దక్షిణపు దిక్కునుండి బయటికి వచ్చి మూడు మారులు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేసిన తరవాత వారు ఒకరినొకరు ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనుచు ఏడ్చుచుండిరి. ఈలా గుండగా దావీదు మరింత బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చెను.

41. As soon as the boy had gone, David got up from a place south of the stone, fell face down on the ground and prostrated himself three times; and they kissed one another and wept each with the other until it became too much for David.

42. అంతట యోనాతానుయెహోవా నీకును నాకును మధ్యను నీ సంతతికిని నా సంతతికిని మధ్యను ఎన్నటెన్నటికి సాక్షిగా నుండునుగాక. మనమిద్దరము యెహోవా నామమును బట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసికొని యున్నాము గనుక మన స్సులో నెమ్మది గలిగి పొమ్మని దావీదుతో చెప్పగా దావీదు లేచి వెళ్లిపోయెను; యోనాతానును పట్టణమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

42. Y'honatan said to David, 'Go in peace; because we have sworn, both of us, in the name of ADONAI, that ADONAI will be between me and you, and between my descendants and yours, forever.'
