1. అక్కడనుండి అబ్రాహాము దక్షిణ దేశమునకు తర్లిపోయి కాదేషుకును షూరుకును మధ్య ప్రదేశములో నివసించి గెరారులో కొన్నాళ్లు ఉండెను.

1. And Abraham brake up from thence, towards the land of the South, and fixed his dwelling between Kadesh and Shur, so he sojourned in Gerar.

2. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము తన భార్యయైన శారాను గూర్చి ఈమె నా చెల్లెలని చెప్పెను గనుక గెరారు రాజైన అబీమెలెకు శారాను పిలిపించి తన యింట చేర్చుకొనెను.

2. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife: My, sister, is she, So Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

3. అయినను రాత్రి వేళ దేవుడు స్వప్నమందు అబీమెలెకు నొద్దకు వచ్చి నీవు నీ యింట చేర్చుకొనిన స్త్రీ ఒక పురుషునికి భార్య గనుక ఆమె నిమిత్తము నీవు చచ్చినవాడవు సుమా అని చెప్పెను.

3. Then God went in unto Abimelech, in a dream of the night, and said to him, Behold thee dead! because of the woman whom thou hast taken, seeing that, she, is a married woman.

4. అయితే అబీమెలెకు ఆమెతో పోలేదు గనుక అతడు ప్రభువా ఇట్టి నీతిగల జనమును హతము చేయుదువా?

4. Now, Abimelech, had not come near unto her, so he said, O My Lord! a nation even a righteous one, wilt thou slay?

5. ఈమె నా చెల్లెలని అతడు నాతో చెప్పలేదా? మరియు ఆమె కూడ అతడు నా అన్న అనెను. నేను చేతులతో ఏ దోషము చేయక యధార్థ హృదయముతో ఈ పని చేసితిననెను.

5. Had not, he himself, said to me, My sister, is she? and even she herself, said, My brother, is he? In the integrity of my heart and in the pureness of my hand, have I done this!

6. అందుకు దేవుడు అవును, యధార్థ హృదయముతో దీని చేసితివని నేనెరుగుదును; మరియు నీవు నాకు విరోధముగా పాపము చేయకుండ నేను నిన్ను అడ్డగించితిని; అందుకే నేను నిన్ను ఆమెను ముట్టనియ్యలేదు.

6. And God said unto him in a dream, I, also, knew, that in the integrity of thy heart, thou didst this, so then, even I myself, withheld thee from sinning against me, for this reason, have I not suffered thee to touch her.

7. కాబట్టి ఆ మనుష్యుని భార్యను తిరిగి అతని కప్పగించుము; అతడు ప్రవక్త, అతడు నీ కొరకు ప్రార్థనచేయును, నీవు బ్రదుకుదువు. నీవు ఆమెను అతని కప్పగించని యెడల నీవును నీవారందరును నిశ్చయముగా చచ్చెదరని తెలిసికొనుమని స్వప్నమందు అతనితో చెప్పెను.

7. Now, therefore restore the man's wife, for a prophet, is he, that he may pray for thee and live thou, But if thou art not going to restore her, know, that thou shalt die, thou and all that are thine.

8. తెల్లవారినప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు లేచి తన సేవకులందరిని పిలిపించి ఈ సంగతులన్నియు వారికి వినిపించినప్పుడు ఆ మనుష్యులు మిగుల భయపడిరి.

8. So Ahimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and spake all these words in their ears, and the men feared greatly.

9. అబీమెలెకు అబ్రాహామును పిలిపించి నీవు మాకు చేసిన పని యేమిటి? నీవు నా మీదికిని నా రాజ్యము మీదికిని మహాపాతకము తెప్పించునట్లు నేను నీయెడల చేసిన పాపమేమిటి? చేయరాని కార్యములు నాకు చేసితివని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

9. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, What hast thou done to us? and wherein had I sinned against thee, that thou shouldst have brought in over me and over my kingdom, a sin so great? Deeds, which should not be done, hast thou done with me.

10. మరియు అబీమెలెకు నీవేమి చూచి ఈ కార్యము చేసితివని అబ్రాహాము నడుగగా

10. And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What hadst thou seen, that thou shouldst have done this thing?

11. అబ్రాహాము ఈ స్థలమందు దేవుని భయము ఏమాత్రమును లేదు గనుక నా భార్య నిమిత్తము నన్ను చంపుదురనుకొని చేసితిని.

11. And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely there is no fear of God, in this place, therefore will they slay me for the sake of my wife.

12. అంతేకాక ఆమె నా చెల్లెలను మాట నిజమే; ఆమె నా తండ్రి కుమార్తెగాని నా తల్లి కుమార్తె కాదు; ఆమె నాకు భార్యయైనది.

12. Moreover also, in truth, my sister daughter of my father, she is, only not daughter of my mother, so she became my wife.

13. దేవుడు నన్ను నా తండ్రి యిల్లు విడిచి దేశాంతరము పోవునట్లు చేసినప్పుడు నేను ఆమెను చూచి మనము పోవు ప్రతి స్థలమందు ఇతడు నా సహోదరుడని నన్ను గూర్చి చెప్పుము; నీవు నాకు చేయవలసిన ఉపకారమిదేయని చెప్పితిననెను.

13. And so it came to pass when the Gods caused me to wander from my fathers house, that I said to her, This, is thy lovingkindness, wherewith thou shalt deal with me, Into what-soever place we enter, say of me My brother, is he.

14. అబీమెలెకు గొఱ్ఱెలను గొడ్లను దాసదాసీ జనులను రప్పించి, అబ్రాహాముకిచ్చి అతని భార్యయైన శారాను అతనికి తిరిగి అప్పగించెను.

14. Then took Abimelech sheep and oxen and men servants and maid-servants, and gave to Abraham, and restored to him Sarah his wife.

15. అప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇదిగో నా దేశము నీ యెదుట నున్నది. నీకిష్టమైన స్థలమందు కాపురముండుమనెను.

15. And Abimelech, said, Lo! my land is before thee, wherever it may seem good in thine eyes, dwell.

16. మరియు అతడు శారాతో ఇదిగో నీ అన్నకు నేను వెయ్యి రూపాయలిచ్చియున్నాను. ఇది నీ యొద్ద నున్న వారందరి దృష్టికి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తముగా నుండుటకై యిది నీ పక్షముగా ఇచ్చియున్నాను. ఈ విషయ మంతటిలో నీకు న్యాయము తీరిపోయినదనెను.

16. And to Sarah, he said, Lo! I have given a thousand of silver unto thy brother: Lo! that is for thee as a covering of eyes, to all who are with thee, And so in every way, hath right been done.

17. అబ్రాహాము దేవుని ప్రార్థింపగా దేవుడు అబీమెలెకును అతని భార్యను అతని దాసీలను బాగుచేసెను; వారు పిల్లలు కనిరి.

17. And Abraham prayed unto God, and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants, so that they bare children,

18. ఏలయనగా అబ్రాహాము భార్యయైన శారాను బట్టి దేవుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇంటిలో ప్రతి గర్భమును మూసియుండెను.

18. For Yahweh, had restrained from bearing, every female a of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, wife of Abraham.
