3. He ordered Y'hudah to seek ADONAI, the God of their ancestors, and to obey the [Torah] and the [mitzvah].

4. He removed the high places and pillars for sun-worship from all the cities of Y'hudah, and under him the kingdom was quiet.

6. 'Let's build these cities,' he said to Y'hudah; 'we'll surround them with walls, towers, gates and bars. The land is there for us to use, because we have sought ADONAI our God; we have sought him, and he has given us peace on every side.' So they built and prospered.

7. Asa had an army of 300,000 men from Y'hudah, equipped with shields and spears, and another 280,000 from Binyamin, with shields and bows; all were brave, strong men.

8. ఆ కాలమున డాళ్లను ఈటెలను పట్టుకొను మూడు లక్షలమంది యూదావారును, కేడెములు ధరించివిల్లువేయు రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబది వేలమంది బెన్యామీనీ యులును కూడిన సైన్యము ఆసాకు ఉండెను; వీరందరును పరాక్రమశాలులై యుండిరి.

8. Zerach the Ethiopian came out to attack them with an army of one million and three hundred chariots. When he arrived at Mareshah,

9. కూషీయుడైన జెరహు వారిమీద దండెత్తి వేయి వేల సైన్యమును మూడువందల రథములను కూర్చుకొని బయలుదేరి మారేషావరకు రాగా ఆసా అతనికి ఎదురుబోయెను.

9. Asa went out to fight him, and the forces were arranged for battle in the Tz'fat Valley at Mareshah.

10. Asa cried out to ADONAI his God, 'ADONAI, there is no one besides yourself, strong or weak, who can help. Help us, ADONAI our God, because we are relying on you, and we are coming against this vast throng in your name. You are ADONAI our God; don't let human beings stop you!'

11. ఆసా తన దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టి యెహోవా, విస్తారమైన సైన్యముచేతిలో ఓడిపోకుండ బలములేనివారికి సహాయము చేయుటకు నీకన్న ఎవరును లేరు; మా దేవా యెహోవా, మాకు సహాయముచేయుము, నిన్నే నమ్ముకొని యున్నాము, నీ నామమునుబట్టియే యీ సైన్యమును ఎదిరించుటకు బయలుదేరియున్నాము. యెహోవా నీవే మా దేవుడవు, నరమాత్రులను నీ పైని జయమొందనియ్యకుము అని ప్రార్థింపగా

11. So ADONAI struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Y'hudah, and the Ethiopians fled.

12. యెహోవా ఆ కూషీయులను ఆసాయెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువనియ్యక వారిని మొత్తినందున వారు పారిపోయిరి.

12. Asa and the army with him pursued them to G'rar, and the Ethiopians were defeated beyond recovery; they were shattered before ADONAI and his army, who carried off much spoil.

13. ఆసాయును అతనితో కూడనున్న వారును గెరారువరకు వారిని తరుమగా కూషీయులు మరల పంక్తులు తీర్చ లేక యెహోవా భయముచేతను ఆయన సైన్యపు భయముచేతను పారిపోయిరి. యూదావారు విశేషమైన కొల్లసొమ్ము పట్టుకొనిరి.

13. Then they attacked all the cities in the vicinity of G'rar, for a panic from ADONAI had overcome them. They plundered all the cities, for they were full of spoil.

14. గెరారు చుట్టునున్న పట్టణములలోని వారందరి మీదికి యెహోవా భయము వచ్చెను గనుక ఆ పట్టణములన్నిటిని కొల్లపెట్టి, వాటిలోనున్న మిక్కుటమైన కొల్లసొమ్మంతయు దోచుకొనిరి.

14. They also attacked the tents of those tending the livestock and carried off sheep and camels in abundance. Then they returned to Yerushalayim.
