1. ఇది యయిన తరువాత మోయాబీయులును అమ్మో నీయులును మెయోనీయులలో కొందరును దండెత్తి యెహోషాపాతుమీదికి వచ్చిరి.

1. After this also came the children of Moab and the children of Ammon, and with them of the Ammonites against Iehoshaphat to battell.

2. అంతలో కొందరు వచ్చిసముద్రము ఆవలనుండు సిరియ నులతట్టునుండి గొప్ప సైన్యమొకటి నీమీదికి వచ్చుచున్నది; చిత్తగించుము, వారు హససోన్‌తామారు అను ఏన్గెదీలో ఉన్నారని యెహోషా పాతునకు తెలియజేసిరి.

2. Then there came that tolde Iehoshaphat, saying, There commeth a great multitude against thee from beyonde the Sea, out of Aram: and beholde, they bee in Hazzon Tamar, which is En-gedi.

3. అందుకు యెహోషాపాతు భయపడి యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుటకు మనస్సు నిలుపు కొని, యూదాయంతట ఉపవాసదినము ఆచరింపవలెనని చాటింపగా

3. And Iehoshaphat feared, and set him selfe to seeke the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Iudah.

4. యూదావారు యెహోవావలని సహాయ మును వేడుకొనుటకై కూడుకొనిరి, యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుటకు యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటిలోనుండి జనులు వచ్చిరి.

4. And Iudah gathered them selues together to aske counsel of the Lord: they came euen out of all the cities of Iudah to inquire of the Lord,

5. యెహోషాపాతు యెహోవా మందిరములో క్రొత్త శాలయెదుట సమాజముగా కూడిన యూదా యెరూషలేముల జనులమధ్యను నిలువబడి

5. And Iehoshaphat stoode in the Congregation of Iudah and Ierusalem in the house of the Lord before the new court,

6. మా పితరుల దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు ఆకాశమందు దేవుడవై యున్నావు, అన్యజనుల రాజ్యములను ఏలువాడవు నీవే; నీవు బాహుబలము గలవాడవు, పరాక్రమము గలవాడవు, నిన్నెదిరించుట కెవరికిని బలము చాలదు.

6. And saide, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heauen? and reignest not thou on all the kingdomes of the heathen? and in thine hande is power and might, and none is able to withstand thee.

7. నీ జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుటనుండి ఈ దేశపు కాపురస్థులను తోలివేసి, నీ స్నేహితుడైన అబ్రాహాముయొక్క సంతతికి దీనిని శాశ్వతముగా నిచ్చిన మా దేవుడవు నీవే.

7. Diddest not thou our God cast out ye inhabitants of this lande before thy people Israel, and gauest it to the seede of Abraham thy friende for euer?

8. వారు అందులో నివాసముచేసి, కీడైనను యుద్ధమైనను తీర్పైనను తెగులైనను కరవైనను, మామీదికి వచ్చినప్పుడు మేము ఈమందిరము ఎదుటను నీ యెదుటను నిలువబడి మా శ్రమలో నీకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టినయెడల

8. And they dwelt therein, and haue built thee a Sanctuarie therein for thy Name, saying,

9. నీవు ఆలకించి మమ్మును రక్షిం చుదువని అనుకొని, యిచ్చట నీ నామఘనతకొరకు ఈ పరిశుద్ధ స్థలమును కట్టించిరి. నీ పేరు ఈ మందిరమునకు పెట్టబడెను గదా.

9. If euill come vpon vs, as the sworde of iudgement, or pestilence, or famine, we will stande before this house and in thy presence (for thy name is in this house) and will crie vnto thee in our tribulation, and thou wilt heare and helpe.

10. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఐగుప్తులోనుండి వచ్చినప్పుడు నీవు వారిని అమ్మోనీయులతోను మోయా బీయులతోను శేయీరు మన్యవాసులతోను యుద్ధము చేయనియ్యలేదు గనుక ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు వారిని నిర్మూలము చేయక వారియొద్దనుండి తొలగి పోయిరి.

10. And now beholde, the children of Ammon and Moab, and mount Seir, by whome thou wouldest not let Israel goe, when they came out of the land of Egypt: but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not:

11. మేము స్వతంత్రించుకొనవలెనని నీవు మా కిచ్చిన నీ స్వాస్థ్య ములోనుండి మమ్మును తోలివేయుటకై వారు బయలుదేరి వచ్చి మాకెట్టి ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయుచున్నారో దృష్టిం చుము.

11. Behold, I say, they reward vs, in comming to cast vs out of thine inheritance, which thou hast caused vs to inherit.

12. మా దేవా, నీవు వారికి తీర్పుతీర్చవా? మా మీదికి వచ్చు ఈ గొప్ప సైన్యముతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకును మాకు శక్తి చాలదు; ఏమి చేయుటకును మాకు తోచదు; నీవే మాకు దిక్కు అని ప్రార్థన చేసెను.

12. O our God, wilt thou not iudge them? for there is no strength in vs to stand before this great multitude that commeth against vs, neither doe wee knowe what to doe: but our eyes are toward thee.

13. యూదావారందరును తమ శిశువులతోను భార్యలతోను పిల్లలతోను యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిలువబడిరి.

13. And all Iudah stoode before the Lord with their yong ones, their wiues, and their children.

14. అప్పుడు మత్తన్యాకు పుట్టిన యెహీయేలు కుమారుడైన బెనాయాకు జననమైన జెకర్యా కుమారుడును ఆసాపు సంతతివాడును లేవీయుడునగు యహజీయేలు సమాజములో ఉండెను. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి రాగా అతడీలాగు ప్రకటించెను

14. And Iahaziel the sonne of Zechariah the sonne of Benaiah, the sonne of Ieiel, the sonne of Mattaniah, a Leuite of the sonnes of Asaph was there, vpon whome came the Spirite of ye Lord, in the middes of the Congregation.

15. యూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేము కాపు రస్థులారా, యెహోషాపాతు రాజా, మీరందరును ఆలకించుడి; యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా ఈ గొప్ప సైన్యమునకు మీరు భయపడకుడి, జడియకుడి, యీ యుద్ధము మీరు కాదు దేవుడే జరిగించును.

15. And he said, Hearken ye, all Iudah, and ye inhabitantes of Ierusalem, and thou, King Iehoshaphat: thus saith the Lord vnto you, Feare you not, neither be afraide for this great multitude: for the battel is not yours, but Gods.

16. రేపు వారిమీదికి పోవుడి; వారు జీజు అను ఎక్కుడుమార్గమున వచ్చెదరు, మీరు యెరూవేలు అరణ్యము ముందరనున్న వాగుకొనదగ్గర వారిని కనుగొందురు.

16. To morowe goe yee downe against them: beholde, they come vp by the cleft of Ziz, and ye shall finde them at the ende of the brooke before the wildernesse of Ieruel.

17. ఈ యుద్ధములో మీరు పోట్లాడవలసిన నిమిత్తము లేదు; యూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేమువారలారా, మీరు యుద్ధపంక్తులు తీర్చినిలువబడుడి; మీతో కూడనున్న యెహోవా దయచేయు రక్షణను మీరు చూచెదరు; భయపడకుడి జడియకుడి, రేపు వారిమీదికి పోవుడి, యెహోవా మీతో కూడ ఉండును.

17. Ye shall not neede to fight in this battell: stand still, moue not, and behold the saluation of the Lord towardes you: O Iudah, and Ierusalem, feare ye not, neither be afraid: to morow goe out against them, and the Lord wilbe with you.

18. అప్పుడు యెహోషాపాతు సాష్టాంగ నమ స్కారము చేసెను; యూదావారును యెరూషలేము కాపు రస్థులును యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సాగిలపడి నమస్కరించిరి.

18. Then Iehoshaphat bowed downe with his face to the earth, and all Iudah and the inhabitants of Ierusalem fell downe before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.

19. కహాతీయుల సంతతివారును కోరహీయుల సంతతి వారునగు లేవీయులు నిలువబడి గొప్ప శబ్దముతో ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను స్తుతించిరి.

19. And the Leuites of the children of the Kohathites and of the childre of the Corhites stood vp to prayse the Lord God of Israel with a loude voyce on hie.

20. అంతట వారు ఉదయముననే లేచి తెకోవ అరణ్యమునకు పోయిరి; వారు పోవుచుండగా యెహోషాపాతు నిలువబడియూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులారా, నా మాట వినుడి; మీ దేవుడైన యెహో వాను నమ్ముకొనుడి, అప్పుడు మీరు స్థిరపరచబడుదురు; ఆయన ప్రవక్తలను నమ్ముకొనుడి, అప్పుడు మీరు కృతార్థులగుదురనిచెప్పెను.

20. And when they arose early in the morning, they went forth to the wildernesse of Tekoa: and as they departed, Iehoshaphat stoode and sayde, Heare ye me, O Iudah, and ye inhabitants of Ierusalem: put your trust in the Lord your God, and ye shalbe assured: beleeue his Prophets, and ye shall prosper.

21. మరియు అతడు జనులను హెచ్చరిక చేసిన తరువాత యెహోవాను స్తుతించుటకు గాయకులను ఏర్పరచి, వారు పరిశుద్ధాలంకారములు ధరించి సైన్యము ముందర నడచుచుయెహోవా కృప నిరంతరముండును, ఆయనను స్తుతించుడి అని స్తోత్రము చేయుటకు వారిని నియమించెను.

21. And when he had consulted with the people, and appoynted singers vnto the Lord, and them that should prayse him that is in the beautifull Sanctuarie, in going forth before the men of armes, and saying, Prayse ye the Lord, for his mercy lasteth for euer,

22. వారు పాడుటకును స్తుతించుటకును మొదలు పెట్టగా యెహోవా యూదావారిమీదికి వచ్చిన అమ్మోనీయులమీదను మోయాబీయుల మీదను శేయీరు మన్యవాసులమీదను మాటుగాండ్రను పెట్టెను గనుక వారు హతులైరి.

22. And when they began to shoute, and to prayse, the Lord layed ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Iudah, and they slewe one another.

23. అమ్మోనీయులును మోయాబీయులును శేయీరు మన్యనివాసులను బొత్తిగా చంపి నిర్మూలము చేయవలెనని పొంచియుండి వారిమీద పడిరి; వారు శేయీరు కాపురస్థులను కడముట్టించిన తరువాత తమలో ఒకరి నొకరు చంపుకొనుటకు మొదలుపెట్టిరి.

23. For the children of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to slay and to destroy them and when they had made an end of the inhabitantes of Seir, euery one helped to destroy another.

24. యూదా వారు అరణ్యమందున్న కాపరుల దుర్గము దగ్గరకు వచ్చి సైన్యముతట్టు చూడగా వారు శవములై నేలపడియుండిరి, ఒకడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు.

24. And when Iudah came towarde Mizpah in the wildernes, they looked vnto the multitude: and behold, the carkeises were fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

25. యెహోషాపాతును అతని జనులును వారి వస్తువులను దోచుకొనుటకు దగ్గరకు రాగా ఆ శవములయొద్ద విస్తారమైన ధనమును ప్రశస్తమైన నగలును కనబడెను; వారు తమకిష్టమైనంతమట్టుకు తీసికొని తాము కొని పో గలిగినంతకంటె ఎక్కువగా ఒలుచు కొనిరి; కొల్లసొమ్ము అతి విస్తారమైనందున దానిని కూర్చుటకు మూడు దినములు పట్టెను.

25. And when Iehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoyle of them, they founde among them in abundance both of substance and also of bodies laden with precious iewels, which they tooke for themselues, till they could cary no more: they were three dayes in gathering of the spoyle: for it was much.

26. నాల్గవ దినమున వారు బెరాకా లోయలో కూడిరి; అక్కడ వారు యెహోవాకు కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించినందున నేటివరకును ఆ చోటికి బెరాకా లోయ యని పేరు.

26. And in the fourth day they assembled themselues in the valley of Berachah: for there they blessed the Lord: therefore they called the name of that place, The valley of Berachah vnto this day.

27. ఈలాగున యెహోవా వారి శత్రువులమీద వారికి జయము అను గ్రహించి వారిని సంతోషపరచెను గనుక యెరూషలేమునకు ఉత్సవముతో మరలవలెనని యూదావారును యెరూషలేమువారును వారందరికి ముందు యెహోషా పాతును సాగి వెళ్లిరి;

27. Then euery man of Iudah and Ierusalem returned with Iehoshaphat their head, to goe againe to Ierusalem with ioy: for the Lord had made them to reioyce ouer their enemies.

28. వారు యెరూషలేములోనున్న యెహోవా మందిరమునకు స్వరమండలములను సితారాలను వాయించుచు బూరలు ఊదుచువచ్చిరి.

28. And they came to Ierusalem with viols and with harpes, and with trumpets, euen vnto the house of the Lord.

29. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల శత్రువులతో యెహోవా యుద్ధము చేసెనని దేశముల రాజ్యముల వారందరు వినగా దేవుని భయము వారందరిమీదికి వచ్చెను.

29. And the feare of God was vpon all the kingdomes of the earth, whe they had heard that the Lord had fought against ye enemies of Israel.

30. ఈ ప్రకారము అతని దేవుడు చుట్టునున్నవారిని జయించి అతనికి నెమ్మది ననుగ్రహింపగా యెహోషాపాతు రాజ్యము నిమ్మళముగా నుండెను.

30. So the kingdom of Iehoshaphat was quiet, and his God gaue him rest on euery side.

31. యెహోషాపాతు యూదారాజ్యమును ఏలెను. అతడు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ముప్పదియయిదు సంవత్సర ములవాడై యెరూషలేములో ఇరువదియయిదు సంవత్సర ములు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి షిల్హీ కుమార్తె, ఆమె పేరు అజూబా,

31. And Iehoshaphat reigned ouer Iudah, and was fiue and thirtie yeere olde, when he began to reigne: and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

32. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించి తన తండ్రియైన ఆసామార్గమందు నడచుచు దానిలోనుండి తొలగిపోకుండెను.

32. And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not therefrom, doing that which was right in the sight of the Lord.

33. అయితే అప్పటికింకను జనులు తమ పితరుల దేవుని వెదకుటకు తమ హృదయములను స్థిరపరచుకొనలేదు, అతడు ఉన్నతస్థలములను తీసివేయలేదు.

33. Howbeit the hie places were not taken away: for the people had not yet prepared their hearts vnto the God of their fathers.

34. యెహోషాపాతు చేసిన కార్యములన్నిటినిగూర్చి హనానీ కుమారుడైన యెహూ రచించిన గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది. ఈ యెహూ పేరు, ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల గ్రంథమందు కన బడుచున్నది.

34. Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat first and last, beholde, they are written in the booke of Iehu the sonne of Hanani, which is mentioned in the booke of the kings of Israel.

35. ఇది యయిన తరువాత యూదా రాజైన యెహోషాపాతు మిక్కిలి దుర్మార్గముగా ప్రవర్తించిన ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహజ్యాతో స్నేహము చేసెను.

35. Yet after this did Iehoshaphat King of Iudah ioyne himselfe with Ahaziah King of Israel, who was giuen to do euill.

36. తర్షీషునకు పోదగిన ఓడలను చేయింపవలెనని యెహోషాపాతు అతనితో స్నేహము చేయగా వారు ఎసోన్గెబెరులో ఆ ఓడలను చేయించిరి.

36. And he ioyned with him, to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the shippes in Ezion Gaber.

37. అప్పుడు మారేషా వాడును దోదావాహు కుమారుడునగు ఎలీయెజెరునీవు అహజ్యాతో స్నేహము చేసికొంటివి గనుక యెహోవా నీ పనులను భంగము చేయునని యెహోషాపాతుమీద ప్రవచనమొకటి చెప్పెను. ఆ ఓడలు తర్షీషునకు వెళ్లజాల కుండ బద్దలైపోయెను.

37. Then Eliezer ye sonne of Dodauah of Mareshah prophecied against Iehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast ioyned thy selfe with Ahaziah, the Lord hath broken thy workes. and the shippes were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
