1. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషులైనందున యెహోవా యేడేండ్లు వారిని మిద్యానీయుల కప్పగించెను.

1. And the sons of Israel did evil again in the sight of Jehovah, and Jehovah gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.

2. మిద్యానీయుల చెయ్యి ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద హెచ్చాయెను గనుక వారు మిద్యానీయులయెదుట నిలువలేక కొండలోనున్న వాగులను గుహలను దుర్గములను తమకు సిద్ధపరచుకొనిరి.

2. And the hand of Midian was strong against Israel. And the sons of Israel made dens for themselves before the faces of Midian, in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.

3. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు విత్తనములు విత్తిన తరువాత మిద్యానీయులును అమాలేకీయులును తూర్పుననుండు వారును తమ పశువులను గుడారములను తీసికొని మిడతల దండంత విస్తారముగా వారిమీదికి వచ్చి

3. And it happened after Israel had sown crops, Midian, and Amalek, and the sons of the east came; and they came against them,

4. వారి యెదుట దిగి, గాజాకు పోవునంతదూరము భూమి పంటను పాడుచేసి, ఒక గొఱ్ఱెనుగాని యెద్దునుగాని గాడిదనుగాని జీవనసాధన మైన మరిదేనినిగాని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఉండనీయ లేదు.

4. and camped against them, and destroyed the produce of the land until you enter Gaza. And they left no food in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass.

5. వారును వారి ఒంటెలును లెక్కలేకయుండెను.

5. For they came up with their livestock, and with their tents. They came in like locusts for number, and there was no number to them, to their camels. And they came into the land to destroy it.

6. దేశమును పాడుచేయుటకు వారు దానిలోనికి వచ్చిరి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మిద్యానీయులవలన మిక్కిలి హీనదశకు వచ్చినప్పుడు వారు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టిరి.

6. And Israel was brought very low before Midian. And the sons of Israel cried to Jehovah.

7. మిద్యానీయులవలని బాధనుబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా

7. And it happened when the sons of Israel had cried to Jehovah about Midian,

8. యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులయొద్దకు ప్రవక్తనొకని పంపెను. అతడు వారితో ఈలాగు ప్రకటించెను ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగానేను ఐగుప్తులోనుండి మిమ్మును రప్పించి, దాసుల గృహములోనుండి మిమ్మును తోడుకొని వచ్చితిని.

8. Jehovah sent a man, a prophet, to the sons of Israel. And he said to them, So says Jehovah the God of Israel, I have brought you up out of Egypt; and I have brought you out from a house of slaves.

9. ఐగుప్తీయుల చేతిలో నుండియు మిమ్మును బాధించిన వారందరి చేతిలో నుండియు మిమ్మును విడిపించి, మీ యెదుటనుండి వారిని తోలివేసి వారి దేశమును మీకిచ్చితిని; మీ దేవుడనైన యెహోవాను నేనే.

9. And I have delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors; and I have driven them out before you; and I have given you their land.

10. మీరు అమోరీయుల దేశమున నివసించుచున్నారు, వారి దేవతలకు భయపడకుడి అని మీతో చెప్పితిని గాని మీరు నా మాట వినకపోతిరి.

10. And I said to you, I am Jehovah your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorite among whom you are dwelling in their land. But you have not listened to My voice.

11. యెహోవా దూత వచ్చి అబీయెజ్రీయుడైన యోవాషునకు కలిగిన ఒఫ్రాలోని మస్తకివృక్షము క్రింద కూర్చుండెను. యోవాషు కుమారుడైన గిద్యోను మిద్యానీయులకు మరుగైయుండునట్లు గానుగ చాటున గోధుమలను దుళ్లగొట్టుచుండగా

11. And the Angel of Jehovah came and sat under the oak which is in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite. And his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the eyes of Midian.

12. యెహోవా దూత అతనికి కనబడి పరాక్రమముగల బలాఢ్యుడా, యెహోవా నీకు తోడైయున్నాడని అతనితో అనగా

12. And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him, and said to him, Jehovah is with you, mighty warrior.

13. గిద్యోను చిత్తము నా యేలినవాడా, యెహోవా మాకు తోడైయుండినయెడల ఇదంతయు మాకేల సంభవించెను? యెహోవా ఐగుప్తులో నుండి మమ్మును రప్పించెనని చెప్పుచు, మా పితరులు మాకు వివరించిన ఆయన అద్భుతకార్యములన్నియు ఏ మాయెను? యెహోవా మమ్మును విడిచిపెట్టి మిద్యానీయుల చేతికి మమ్మును అప్పగించెనని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

13. And Gideon said to Him, Oh my Lord, if Jehovah is with us, then why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up out of Egypt? And now Jehovah has left us, and has given us into the hands of Midian.

14. అంతట యెహోవా అతనితట్టు తిరిగి బలము తెచ్చుకొని వెళ్లి మిద్యానీయుల చేతిలోనుండి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షింపుము, నిన్ను పంపినవాడను నేనే అని చెప్పగా

14. And Jehovah turned to him and said, Go in this strength of yours, and you shall deliver Israel out of the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?

15. అతడు చిత్తము నా యేలినవాడా, దేని సహాయముచేత నేను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షింపగలను? నా కుటుంబము మనష్షే గోత్రములో ఎన్నికలేనిదే. నా పితరుల కుటుంబములో నేను కనిష్ఠుడనై యున్నానని ఆయనతో చెప్పెను. అందుకు యెహోవా అయిన నేమి?

15. And he said to Him, Oh my Lord, with what shall I deliver Israel? Behold, my family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I the least in my father's house.

16. నేను నీకు తోడైయుందును గనుక ఒకే మనుష్యుని హతము చేసినట్లు మిద్యానీయులను నీవు హతముచేయుదువని సెలవిచ్చెను.

16. And Jehovah said to him, Because I am with you, you shall strike Midian as one man.

17. అందుకతడు నాయెడల నీకు కటాక్షము కలిగినయెడల నాతో మాటలాడుచున్న వాడవు నీవే అని నేను తెలిసికొనునట్లు ఒక సూచన కనుపరచుము.

17. And he said to Him, Please, if I have found grace in Your eyes, then You shall do for me a sign that You are speaking with me.

18. నేను నీయొద్దకు వచ్చి నా అర్పణమును బయటికి తెచ్చి నీ సన్నిధిని దానిని పెట్టువరకు ఇక్కడనుండి వెళ్లకుమీ అని వేడుకొనగా ఆయన నీవు తిరిగి వచ్చువరకు నేను ఉండెదననెను.

18. Please do not move from here until I come to You and bring my food offering and lay it before You. And He said, I will stay until you come back.

19. అప్పుడు గిద్యోను లోపలికి పోయి ఒక మేక పిల్లను తూమెడు పిండితో పొంగని భక్ష్యములను సిద్ధపరచి ఆ మాంసమును గంపలో ఉంచి అది వండిన నీళ్లను కుండలో పోసి ఆయనకొరకు ఆ మస్తకివృక్షముక్రిందికి దానిని తీసికొనివచ్చి దగ్గర ఉంచగా

19. And Gideon went in and prepared a kid of the goats, and unleavened bread of an ephah of flour. He put the flesh in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot. And he brought it out to Him, under the oak, and offered it.

20. దేవుని దూత ఆ మాంసమును పొంగని భక్ష్యములను పట్టుకొని రాతి మీద పెట్టి నీళ్లు పోయుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

20. And the Angel of Jehovah said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened bread and place them on this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

21. అతడాలాగు చేయగా యెహోవా దూత తన చేత నున్న కఱ్ఱను చాపి దాని కొనతో ఆ మాంసమును ఆ పొంగని భక్ష్యములను ముట్టినప్పుడు అగ్ని ఆ రాతిలోనుండి వెడలి ఆ మాంసమును పొంగని భక్ష్యములను కాల్చి వేసెను, అంతట యెహోవా దూత అతనికి అదృశ్య మాయెను.

21. And the Angel of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff in His hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread. And the fire rose up out of the rock and burned up the flesh and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of Jehovah went out of his sight.

22. గిద్యోను ఆయన యెహోవా దూత అని తెలిసికొని అహహా నా యేలినవాడా, యెహోవా, ఇందుకే గదా నేను ముఖా ముఖిగా యెహోవా దూతను చూచితిననెను.

22. And Gideon saw that He was the Angel of Jehovah. And Gideon said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Because I have seen the Angel of Jehovah face to face!

23. అప్పుడు యెహోవా నీకు సమాధానము, భయపడకుము, నీవు చావవని అతనితో సెలవిచ్చెను.

23. And Jehovah said to him, Peace to you, fear not. You shall not die.

24. అక్కడ గిద్యోను యెహోవా నామమున బలిపీఠము కట్టి, దానికి యెహోవా సమాధానకర్తయను పేరుపెట్టెను. నేటివరకు అది అబీ యెజ్రీయుల ఒఫ్రాలో ఉన్నది.

24. And Gideon built an altar to Jehovah there, and called it Peace of Jehovah. It is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites until today.

25. మరియు ఆ రాత్రియందే యెహోవా నీ తండ్రి కోడెను, అనగా ఏడేండ్ల రెండవ యెద్దును తీసికొని వచ్చి, నీ తండ్రి కట్టిన బయలుయొక్క బలిపీఠమును పడగొట్టి, దానికి పైగానున్న దేవతాస్తంభమును నరికివేసి

25. And it happened on that night, Jehovah said to him, Take your father's bull, and the second bull of seven years; and you shall throw down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and you shall cut down the pillar beside it.

26. తగిన యేర్పాటుతో ఈ బండ కొనను నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు బలిపీఠము కట్టి, ఆ రెండవ కోడెను తీసికొనివచ్చి నీవు నరికిన ప్రతిమయొక్క కఱ్ఱతో దహనబలి నర్పించు మని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

26. And you shall build an altar to Jehovah your God on the top of this stronghold, in an orderly way, and shall take the second bull and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the pillar which you have cut down.

27. కాబట్టి గిద్యోను తన పని వారిలో పదిమందిని తీసికొనివచ్చి యెహోవా తనతో చెప్పినట్లు చేసెను. అతడు తన పితరుల కుటుంబమునకును ఆ ఊరివారికిని భయపడినందున పగలు దానిని చేయలేక రాత్రివేళ చేసెను.

27. And Gideon took ten men from his servants and did as Jehovah had spoken to him. And it happened, since he feared his father's house and the men of the city, to do it by day, that he did it by night.

28. ఆ ఊరివారు వేకువనే లేచినప్పుడు బయలుయొక్క బలిపీఠము విరుగగొట్టబడియుండెను, దానికి పైగా నున్న దేవతాస్తంభమును పడద్రోయబడి యుండెను, కట్టబడిన ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద ఆ రెండవ యెద్దు అర్పింప బడి యుండెను.

28. And the men of the city rose early in the morning. And, behold, the altar of Baal had been smashed, and the pillar beside it had been cut down. And the second bull had been offered on the altar which was built.

29. అప్పుడు వారు ఈ పని యెవరు చేసినదని ఒకరితోనొకరు చెప్పుకొనుచు విచారణచేసి వెదకి, యోవాషు కుమారుడైన గిద్యోను ఆ పనిచేసినట్టు తెలిసికొనిరి.

29. And they each said to his neighbor, Who has done this thing? And they asked and sought. And they said, Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.

30. కాబట్టి ఆ ఊరి వారు నీ కుమారుడు బయలుయొక్క బలిపీఠమును పడగొట్టి దానికి పైగానున్న దేవతాస్తంభమును పడద్రోసెను గనుక అతడు చావవలెను, వానిని బయటికి తెమ్మని యోవాషుతో చెప్పగా

30. And the men of the city said to Joash, Bring out your son, and he shall die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the pillar beside it.

31. యోవాషు తనకు ఎదురుగా నిలిచిన వారందరితో మీరు బయలు పక్షముగా వాదింతురా? మీరు వాని రక్షించుదురా? వానిపక్షముగా వాదించువాడు ఈ ప్రొద్దుననే చావవలెను; ఎవడో వాని బలిపీఠమును విరుగగొట్టెను గనుక, వాడు దేవతయైనందున తన పక్షమున తానేవాదించ వచ్చును.

31. And Joash said to all that stood against him, You, will you contend for Baal? Or you, will you save him? He who contends for him shall be killed by the morning. If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because one has smashed his altar.

32. ఒకడు తన బలిపీఠమును విరుగ గొట్టినందున అతనితో బయలు వాదించుకొననిమ్మని చెప్పి ఆ దినమున అతనికి యెరుబ్బయలను పేరు పెట్టెను.

32. And on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal contend against him, because he has smashed his altar.

33. మిద్యానీయులందరును అమాలేకీయులందరును తూర్పు వారందరును కూడి వచ్చి నది దాటి యెజ్రెయేలు మైదా నములో దిగగా

33. And all Midian and Amalek, and the sons of the east, were gathered together, and crossed over, and camped in the valley of Jezreel.

34. యెహోవా ఆత్మ గిద్యోనును ఆవేశించెను. అతడు బూర ఊదినప్పుడు అబీయెజెరు కుటుంబపు వారు అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

34. And the Spirit of Jehovah clothed Gideon with Himself, and he blew with a ram's horn. And the Abiezrites were called after him.

35. And he sent messengers to all Manasseh, and it also was called after him. And he sent messengers to Asher and Zebulun, and to Naphtali. And they came up to meet them.

36. అప్పుడు గిద్యోను నీవు సెలవిచ్చినట్లు నాచేత ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షింప నుద్దేశించిన యెడల

36. And Gideon said to God, If You are to deliver Israel by my hand, as You have spoken,

37. నేను కళ్లమున గొఱ్ఱెబొచ్చు ఉంచిన తరువాత నేల అంతయు ఆరియుండగా ఆ గొఱ్ఱె బొచ్చుమీద మాత్రమే మంచుపడు నెడల నీవు సెల విచ్చినట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను నా మూలముగా రక్షించెదవని నేను నిశ్చయించుకొందునని దేవునితో అనెను.

37. behold, I am placing the fleece of wool on the grain floor; if the dew is on the fleece only, and dryness on all the ground, then I will know that You will deliver Israel by my hand, as You have spoken.

38. ఆలాగున జరిగెను; అతడు ప్రొద్దుట లేచి ఆ బొచ్చును పిడిచి నీళ్లతో పాత్ర నిండువరకు ఆ బొచ్చునుండి మంచును పిండెను.

38. And it was so. And he rose early on the next day and wrung the fleece, and drained dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

39. అప్పుడు గిద్యోనునీ కోపము నా మీద మండనియ్యకుము; ఇంకొక మారే ఆ బొచ్చుచేత శోధింప సెలవిమ్ము. నేల అంతటిమీద మంచు పడి యుండగా ఆ బొచ్చు మాత్రమే పొడిగా ఉండనిమ్మని దేవునితో అనగా

39. And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger glow against me, and I shall speak only this time. Please let me try only this time with the fleece; please let there be dryness on the fleece alone; and let there be dew on all the ground.

40. ఆ రాత్రి దేవుడు ఆలాగున చేసెను; నేల అంతటి మీద మంచు పడినను ఆ బొచ్చుమాత్రమే పొడిగానుండెను.

40. And God did so on that night, and there was dryness only on the fleece, and there was dew on all the ground.
