1. అంతట యెహోవా సమూయేలుతో ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద రాజుగా ఉండకుండ నేను విసర్జించిన సౌలునుగూర్చి నీ వెంతకాలము దుఃఖిం తువు? నీ కొమ్మును తైలముతో నింపుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొద్దకు నిన్ను పంపుచున్నాను, అతని కుమారులలో ఒకని నేను రాజుగా నియమించుదును.

1. And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse, to Bethlehem; for I have seen among his sons a king for Me.

2. సమూయేలునేనెట్లు వెళ్లుదును? నేను వెళ్లిన సంగతి సౌలు వినినయెడల అతడు నన్ను చంపుననగా యెహోవానీవు ఒక పెయ్యను తీసికొనిపోయి యెహోవాకు బలిపశువును వధించుటకై వచ్చితినని చెప్పి

2. And Samuel said, How can I go? If Saul hears of it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take a heifer in your hand, and you shall say, I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.

3. యెష్షయిని బల్యర్పణమునకు పిలువుము; అప్పుడు నీవు చేయవలసిన దానిని నీకు తెలియజేతును; ఎవనిపేరు నేను నీకు చెప్పుదునో అతనిని నీవు అభిషేకింపవలెనని సెలవియ్యగా

3. And you shall call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will make known to you what you shall do; and you shall anoint him whom I shall name to you.

4. సమూయేలు యెహోవా ఇచ్చిన సెలవుచొప్పున బేత్లె హేమునకు వెళ్లెను. ఆ ఊరి పెద్దలు అతని రాకకు భయపడిసమాధానముగా వచ్చుచున్నావా అని అడుగగా

4. And Samuel did all that the Lord told him; and he came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city were trembling at meeting him, and said, Do you come peaceably, O Seer?

5. అతడుసమాధానముగానే వచ్చితిని; మీరు శుద్ధులై నాతోకూడ బలికి రండని చెప్పి, యెష్షయిని అతని కుమారులను శుద్ధి చేసి బలి అర్పించెను.

5. And he said, Peaceably: I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and rejoice with me this day. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and he called them to the sacrifice.

6. వారు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఏలీయాబును చూచినిజముగా యెహోవా అభిషేకించువాడు ఆయన యెదుట నిలిచి యున్నాడని అనుకొనెను

6. And it came to pass when they came in, that he saw Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him.

7. But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance, nor on his stature, for I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

8. యెష్షయి అబీనాదాబును పిలిచి సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి అతని రప్పింపగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతని కోరుకొన లేదనెను.

8. And Jesse called Abinadab, and he passed before Samuel. And he said, Neither has God chosen this one.

9. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి షమ్మాను పిలువగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతనిని కోరుకొనలేదనెను.

9. And Jesse caused Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither has God chosen this one.

10. యెష్షయి తన యేడుగురు కుమారులను సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి పిలువగా సమూయేలుయెహోవా వీరిని కోరుకొనలేదని చెప్పి

10. And Jesse caused his seven sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said, the Lord has not chosen these.

11. నీ కుమారులందరు ఇక్కడనున్నారా అని యెష్షయిని అడుగగా అతడుఇంకను కడసారివాడున్నాడు. అయితే వాడు గొఱ్ఱెలను కాయుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను. అందుకు సమూయేలునీవు వాని పిలువనంపించుము, అతడిక్కడికి వచ్చువరకు మనము కూర్చుందమని యెష్షయితో చెప్పగా

11. And Samuel said to Jesse, Have you no more sons? And Jesse said, [There is] yet a little one; behold, he tends the flock. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and fetch him, for we may not sit down till he comes.

12. And he sent and fetched him. And he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes, and very good looking. And the Lord said to Samuel, Arise, and anoint David, for he is good.

13. సమూయేలు తైలపు కొమ్మును తీసి వాని సహోదరుల యెదుట వానికి అభిషేకము చేసెను. నాటనుండి యెహోవా ఆత్మ దావీదుమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చెను. తరువాత సమూ యేలు లేచి రామాకు వెళ్లిపోయెను.

13. And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose, and departed to Ramah.

14. యెహోవా ఆత్మ సౌలును విడిచిపోయి యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మయొకటి వచ్చి అతని వెరపింపగా

14. And the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.

15. సౌలు సేవకులుదేవునియొద్దనుండి వచ్చిన దురాత్మయొకటి నిన్ను వెరపించియున్నది;

15. And Saul's servants said to him, Behold now, and evil spirit from the Lord torments you.

16. మా యేలినవాడవైన నీవు ఆజ్ఞ ఇమ్ము, నీ దాసులమైన మేము సిద్ధముగా నున్నాము. సితారా చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచా రించుటకై మాకు సెలవిమ్ము దేవుని యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి నిన్ను పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల అతడు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయించుటచేత నీవు బాగుపడుదువని అతనితో ననిరి

16. Let now your servants speak before you, and let them seek for our lord a man skilled to play on the harp; and it shall come to pass when an evil spirit comes upon you, and he shall play on his harp, that you shall be well, and he shall refresh you.

17. సౌలుబాగుగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచారించి నా యొద్దకు తీసికొని రండని తన సేవకులకు సెలవియ్యగా వారిలో ఒకడు

17. And Saul said to his servants, Now look for me a skillful player, and bring him to me.

18. చిత్తగించుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొక్క కుమారులలో ఒకని చూచితిని, అతడు చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగలడు, అతడు బహు శూరు డును యుద్ధశాలియు మాట నేర్పరియు రూపసియునై యున్నాడు, మరియు యెహోవా వానికి తోడుగా నున్నాడనగా

18. And one of his servants answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, and he understands playing [on the harp], and the man is prudent, and a warrior, and wise in speech, and the man is handsome, and the Lord is with him.

19. నున్నాడనగా సౌలుయెష్షయియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి, గొఱ్ఱెలయొద్ద నున్న నీ కుమారుడైన దావీదును నాయొద్దకు పంపు మనెను.

19. And Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, Send to me your son David who is with your flock.

20. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి ఒక గార్దభముమీద రొట్టెలను ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తిని ఒక మేకపిల్లను వేయించి తన కుమారుడైన దావీదుచేత సౌలునొద్దకు పంపెను.

20. And Jesse took a homer of bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sent them by the hand of his son David to Saul.

21. దావీదు సౌలు దగ్గరకువచ్చి అతనియెదుట నిలువబడగా అతనియందు సౌలునకు బహు ఇష్టము పుట్టెను, అతడు సౌలు ఆయుధములను మోయువాడాయెను.

21. And David went in to Saul, and stood before him. And he loved him greatly, and he became his armorbearer.

22. అంతట సౌలుదావీదు నా అను గ్రహము పొందెను గనుక అతడు నా సముఖమందు సేవచేయుటకు ఒప్పుకొనుమని యెష్ష యికి వర్తమానము పంపెను.

22. And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my eyes.

23. దేవునియొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి సౌలును పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల దావీదు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయింపగా దురాత్మ అతనిని విడిచిపోయెను, అతడు సేదదీరి బాగాయెను.

23. And it came to pass when the evil spirit was upon Saul, that David took his harp, and played with his hand. And Saul was refreshed, and it was well with him, and the evil spirit departed from him.
