1. The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took the Lord's Holy Box up the hill to the house of Abinadab the priest. They performed a special ceremony to prepare Abinadab's son, Eleazar, to guard the Lord's Holy Box.

2. మందసము కిర్యత్యారీములోనుండిన కాలము ఇరువై సంవత్సరములాయెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు యెహో వాను అనుసరింప దుఃఖించుచుండగా

2. The Box stayed there at Kiriath Jearim for a long time. Twenty years passed while the Holy Box was in Kiriath Jearim, and the Israelites began to follow the Lord again.

3. సమూయేలు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరితో ఇట్లనెనుమీ పూర్ణహృదయ ముతో యెహోవాయొద్దకు మీరు మళ్లుకొనినయెడల, అన్యదేవతలను అష్తారోతు దేవతలను మీ మధ్యనుండి తీసి వేసి, పట్టుదలగలిగి యెహోవా తట్టు మీ హృదయములను త్రిప్పి ఆయ నను సేవించుడి. అప్పుడు ఆయన ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి మిమ్మును విడిపించును.

3. Samuel told the Israelites, 'If you are really coming back to the Lord with all your heart, you must throw away your foreign gods and your idols of Ashtoreth. You must give yourselves fully to the Lord and serve only him. Then he will save you from the Philistines.'

4. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బయలు దేవతలను అష్తారోతు దేవత లను తీసివేసి యెహోవాను మాత్రమే సేవించిరి.

4. So the Israelites threw away their statues of Baal and Ashtoreth. The Israelites served only the Lord.

5. అంతట సమూయేలుఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరిని మిస్పాకు పిలువనంపుడి; నేను మీపక్షమున యెహోవాను ప్రార్థన చేతునని చెప్పగా

5. Samuel said, 'All Israel must meet at Mizpah. I will pray to the Lord for you.'

6. వారు మిస్పాలో కూడు కొని నీళ్లుచేది యెహోవా సన్నిధిని కుమ్మరించి ఆ దినము ఉపవాసముండియెహోవా దృష్టికి మేము పాపాత్ములమని ఒప్పుకొనిరి. మిస్పాలో సమూయేలు ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులకు న్యాయము తీర్చుచువచ్చెను.

6. The Israelites met together at Mizpah. They got water and poured it out before the Lord. In this way they began a time of fasting. They did not eat any food that day, and they confessed their sins. They said, 'We have sinned against the Lord.' So Samuel served as a judge of Israel at Mizpah.

7. When the Philistines heard that the Israelites were meeting at Mizpah, they went to fight them. The Israelites were frightened when they heard the Philistines were coming

8. మన దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలో నుండి మనలను రక్షించునట్లుగా మాకొరకు ఆయనను ప్రార్థనచేయుట మానవద్దని సమూయేలునొద్ద మనవి చేసిరి

8. and said to Samuel, 'Don't stop praying to the Lord our God for us. Ask the Lord to save us from the Philistines.'

9. సమూయేలు పాలు విడువని ఒక గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లను తెచ్చి యెహోవాకు సర్వాంగ బలిగా అర్పించి, ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల పక్షమున యెహోవాను ప్రార్థనచేయగా యెహోవా అతని ప్రార్థన అంగీకరించెను.

9. Samuel took a baby lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He prayed to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered his prayer.

10. సమూయేలు దహనబలి అర్పించుచుండగా ఫిలిష్తీయులు యుద్ధము చేయుటకై ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీదికి వచ్చిరి. అయితే యెహోవా ఆ దినమున ఫిలిష్తీయులమీద మెండుగా ఉరుములు ఉరిమించి వారిని తారుమారు చేయగా వారు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేత ఓడిపోయిరి.

10. The Philistines came closer and closer to fight the Israelites while Samuel offered the sacrifice. But then, the Lord caused a loud clap of thunder to hit near the Philistines. The thunder scared the Philistines, and they became confused, so the Israelites defeated them in battle.

11. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మిస్పాలో నుండి బయలుదేరి బేత్కారు వరకు ఫిలిష్తీయు లను తరిమి హతము చేసిరి.

11. The men of Israel ran out of Mizpah and chased the Philistines all the way to Beth Car. They killed Philistine soldiers all along the way.

12. అప్పుడు సమూయేలు ఒక రాయి తీసి మిస్పాకును షేనుకును మధ్య దానిని నిలిపియింతవరకు యెహోవా మనకు సహాయము చేసెనని చెప్పి దానికి ఎబెనెజరు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

12. After this Samuel set up a special stone to help people remember what God did. Samuel put the stone between Mizpah and Shen and named the stone 'Stone of Help.' Samuel said, 'The Lord helped us all the way to this place.'

13. ఈలాగున ఫిలిష్తీయులు అణపబడినవారై ఇశ్రాయేలు సరిహద్దులోనికి తిరిగి రాక ఆగిపోయిరి. సమూయేలు ఉండిన దినములన్నిటను యెహోవా హస్తము ఫిలిష్తీయులకు విరోధముగా ఉండెను.

13. The Philistines were defeated and did not enter the land of Israel again. The Lord was against the Philistines during the rest of Samuel's life.

14. మరియు ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల యొద్దనుండి పట్టుకొనిన పట్టణములు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను. ఎక్రోనునుండి గాతు వరకున్న గ్రామములను వాటి పొలములను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించిరి. మరియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును అమోరీయులకును సమాధానము కలిగెను.

14. The Philistines had taken some cities from Israel, but the Israelites won them back. They recovered those cities throughout the Philistine area, from Ekron to Gath. There was also peace between Israel and the Amorites.

15. సమూయేలు తాను బ్రదికిన దినములన్నియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతిగా ఉండెను.

15. Samuel led Israel all his life.

16. ఏటేట అతడు బేతేలునకును గిల్గాలునకును మిస్పాకును తిరుగుచు ఆ స్థలములయందు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయము తీర్చుచు వచ్చెను.

16. He went from place to place judging the Israelites. Every year he traveled around the country. He went to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah and he judged the Israelites in all these places.

17. మరియు అతని యిల్లు రామాలోనుండినందున అచ్చటికి తిరిగివచ్చి అచ్చటకూడను న్యాయము తీర్చుచుండెను, మరియు అతడు అక్కడ యెహోవాకు ఒక బలిపీఠము కట్టెను.

17. But Samuel always went back to his home in Ramah. There he built an altar to the Lord and judged Israel.
