1. అంతట జీఫీయులు గిబియాలో సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చిదావీదు యెషీమోను ఎదుట హకీలామన్య ములో దాగి యున్నాడని తెలియజేయగా

1. Some people from Ziph went to Saul at Gibeah. They said, 'David is hiding on the hill of Hakilah. It faces Jeshimon.'

2. సౌలు లేచి ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులలో ఏర్పరచబడిన మూడువేల మందిని తీసికొని జీఫు అరణ్యములో దావీదును వెదకుటకు జీఫు అరణ్య మునకు పోయెను.

2. So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph. He took 3,000 of the best soldiers in Israel with him. They went to the desert to look for David.

3. సౌలు యెషీమోను ఎదుటనున్న హకీలామన్యమందు త్రోవ ప్రక్కను దిగగా, దావీదు అరణ్యములో నివసించుచుండి తన్ను పట్టుకొనవలెనని సౌలు అరణ్యమునకు వచ్చెనని విని

3. Saul set up his camp beside the road. It was on the hill of Hakilah facing Jeshimon. But David stayed in the desert. He saw that Saul had followed him there.

4. వేగులవారిని పంపి నిశ్చయముగా సౌలు వచ్చెనని తెలిసికొనెను.

4. So he sent out scouts. From them he learned that Saul had arrived.

5. తరువాత దావీదు లేచి సౌలు దండు దిగిన స్థలము దగ్గరకు వచ్చి, సౌలును సౌలునకు సైన్యాధిపతియగు నేరు కుమారు డైన అబ్నేరును పరుండియుండగా వారున్నస్థలము కను గొనెను. సౌలు దండుక్రొత్తళములో పండుకొనగా దండువారు అతనిచుట్టు నుండిరి.

5. Then David started out. He went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw where Saul and Abner were lying down. Saul was lying inside the camp. The army was camped all around him. Abner was commander of the army. He was the son of Ner.

6. అప్పుడు దావీదుపాళెములోనికి సౌలు దగ్గరకు నాతోకూడ ఎవరు వత్తురని హిత్తీయుడైన అహీమెలెకును సెరూయా కుమారుడును యోవాబునకు సహోదరుడునగు అబీషైని నడుగగానీతోకూడ నేనే వత్తునని అబీషై యనెను.

6. Then David spoke to Ahimelech, the Hittite. He also spoke to Joab's brother Abishai, the son of Zeruiah. He asked them, 'Who will go down with me into the camp to Saul?' 'I'll go with you,' said Abishai.

7. దావీదును అబీషైయును రాత్రివేళ ఆ జనుల దగ్గరకు పోగా సౌలు దండు క్రొత్తళములో పండుకొని నిద్ర బోవుచుండెను, అతని యీటె అతని తలగడ దగ్గర నేలను నాటియుండెను, అబ్నేరును జనులును అతని చుట్టు పండుకొనియుండిరి.

7. So that night David and Abishai went into the camp. They found Saul lying asleep inside the camp. His spear was stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying asleep around him.

8. అప్పుడు అబీషై దావీదుతోదేవుడు ఈ దినమున నీ శత్రువుని నీకప్పగించెను; కాబట్టి నీ చిత్తమైతే ఆ యీటెతో ఒక్కపోటు పొడిచి, నేనతనిని భూమికి నాటివేతును, ఒక దెబ్బతోనే పరిష్కారము చేతుననగా

8. Abishai said to David, 'Today God has handed your enemy over to you. So let me pin him to the ground. I can do it with one jab of my spear. I won't even have to strike him twice.'

9. దావీదునీవతని చంపకూడదు, యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపి నిర్దోషియగుట యెవనికి సాధ్యము?

9. But David said to Abishai, 'Don't destroy him! No one can lay a hand on the Lord's anointed king and not be guilty.

10. యహోవా జీవముతోడు యెహోవాయే అతని మొత్తును, అతడు అపాయమువలన చచ్చును, లేదా యుద్ధమునకు పోయి నశించును;

10. You can be sure that the Lord lives,' he said. 'And you can be just as sure that the Lord himself will strike Saul down. Perhaps he'll die a natural death. Or perhaps he'll go into battle and be killed.

11. యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందిన వానిని నేను చంపను; ఆలాగున నేను చేయకుండ యెహోవా నన్ను ఆపునుగాక. అయితే అతని తలగడ దగ్గరనున్న యీటెను నీళ్ల బుడ్డిని తీసికొని మనము వెళ్లిపోదము రమ్మని అబీషైతో చెప్పి

11. May the Lord keep me from laying a hand on his anointed king. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head. Then let's leave.'

12. సౌలు తలగడదగ్గర నున్న యీటెను నీళ్లబుడ్డిని తీసికొని వారిద్దరు వెళ్లిపోయిరి. యెహోవాచేత వారి కందరికి గాఢనిద్ర కలుగగా వారిలో ఎవడును నిద్ర మేలుకొనలేదు, ఎవడును వచ్చిన వారిని చూడలేదు, జరిగినదాని గుర్తు పట్టినవాడొకడును లేడు.

12. So David took the spear and water jug that were near Saul's head. Then he and Abishai left. No one saw them. No one knew about what they had done. In fact, no one even woke up. Everyone was sleeping. That's because the Lord had put them into a deep sleep.

13. తరువాత దావీదు అవతలకుపోయి దూరముగా నున్న కొండమీద నిలిచి, ఉభయుల మధ్యను చాలా యెడముండగా

13. David went across to the other side of the valley. He stood on top of a hill far away from Saul's camp. There was a wide space between them.

14. జనులును నేరు కుమారుడైన అబ్నేరును వినునట్లు అబ్నేరూ, నీవు మాటలాడవా? అని కేక వేయగా అబ్నేరు కేకలువేసిరాజును నిద్రలేపు నీవెవడవని అడిగెను.

14. He called out to the army and to Abner, the son of Ner. He said, 'Abner! Aren't you going to answer me?' Abner replied, 'Who is calling out to the king?'

15. అందుకు దావీదునీవు మగవాడవు కావా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో నీ వంటివాడెవడు? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజునకు నీ వెందుకు కాపు కాయక పోతివి? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజును సంహరించుటకు జనులలో ఒకడు చేరువకు వచ్చెనే;

15. David said, 'You are a great soldier, aren't you? There isn't anyone else like you in Israel. So why didn't you guard the king? He's your master, isn't he? Someone came into the camp to destroy him.

16. నీ ప్రవర్తన అను కూలము కాదు, నీవు శిక్షకు పాత్రుడవే; యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందిన నీ యేలినవానికి నీవు రక్షకముగా నుండలేదు; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీవు మరణశిక్షకు పాత్రుడవు. రాజుయొక్క యీటె యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము, అతని తలగడయొద్దనున్న నీళ్లబుడ్డి యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము అని పలికెను.

16. You didn't guard him. And that isn't good. You can be sure that the Lord lives. And you can be just as sure that you and your men are worthy of death. That's because you didn't guard your master. He's the Lord's anointed king. Look around you. Where are the king's spear and water jug that were near his head?'

17. సౌలు దావీదు స్వరము ఎరిగిదావీదా నాయనా, యిది నీ స్వరమేగదా అని అనగా దావీదు ఇట్లనెనునా యేలినవాడా నా రాజా, నా స్వరమే.

17. Saul recognized David's voice. He said, 'My son David, is that your voice?' David replied, 'Yes it is, King Saul, my master.'

18. నా యేలిన వాడు తన దాసుని ఈలాగు ఎందుకు తరుముచున్నాడు? నేనేమి చేసితిని? నావలన ఏ కీడు నీకు సంభవించును?

18. He continued, 'Why are you chasing me? What evil thing have I done? What am I guilty of?

19. రాజా నా యేలిన వాడా, నీ దాసుని మాటలు వినుము. నామీద పడవలెనని యెహోవా నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించినయెడల నైవేద్యము చేసి ఆయనను శాంతిపరచవచ్చును. అయితే నరులెవరైనను నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించిన యెడల వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి శాపగ్రస్తులగుదురు. వారునీవు దేశమును విడిచి అన్య దేవతలను పూజించుమని నాతో చెప్పి, యెహోవా స్వాస్థ్యమునకు హత్తుకొనకుండ నన్ను వెలివేయు చున్నారు.

19. 'King Saul, please listen to what I'm saying. Was it the Lord who made you angry with me? If it was, may he accept my offering. Was it people who made you angry at me? If it was, may the Lord send down a curse on them. They have now driven me from my share of the Lord's land. By doing that, they might as well have said, 'Go and serve other gods.'

20. నా దేశమునకు దూరముగాను, యెహోవా సన్నిధికి ఎడమగాను నేను మరణము నొందకపోవుదును గాక. ఒకడు పర్వతములమీద కౌజుపిట్టను తరిమినట్టు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజవైన నీవు మిన్నల్లిని వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరి వచ్చితివి.

20. 'Don't spill my blood on the ground far away from where the Lord lives. King Saul, you have come out to look for nothing but a flea. It's as if you were hunting a partridge in the mountains.'

21. అందుకు సౌలునేను పాపము చేసితిని, ఈ దినమున నాప్రాణము నీ దృష్టికి ప్రియముగా నుండినదానిబట్టి నేను నీకిక కీడుచేయను. దావీదా నాయనా, నాయొద్దకు తిరిగిరమ్ము; వెఱ్ఱి వాడనై నేను బహు తప్పు చేసితిననగా

21. Then Saul said, 'I have sinned. My son David, come back. Today you thought my life was very special. So I won't try to harm you again. I've really acted like a foolish person. I've made a huge mistake.'

22. దావీదురాజా, యిదిగో నీ యీటె నాయొద్దనున్నది, పనివారిలో నొకడు వచ్చి దాని తీసికొనవచ్చును.

22. 'Here's your spear,' David answered. 'Send one of your young men over to get it.

23. యెహోవా ఈ దినము నిన్ను నాకు అప్పగించినను నేను యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపనొల్లక పోయినందున ఆయన నా నీతిని నా విశ్వాస్యతను చూచి నాకు ప్రతిఫలము దయ చేయును.

23. 'The Lord rewards everyone for doing what is right and being faithful. He handed you over to me today. But I wouldn't lay a hand on you. You are the Lord's anointed king.

24. చిత్తగించుము, ఈ దినమున నీ ప్రాణము నా దృష్టికి ఘనమైనందున యెహోవా నా ప్రాణమును తన దృష్టికి ఘనముగా ఎంచి బాధలన్నిటిలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించునుగాక అని చెప్పెను.

24. Today I thought your life had great value. In the same way, may the Lord think of my life as having great value. May he save me from all trouble.'

25. అందుకు సౌలుదావీదా నాయనా, నీవు ఆశీర్వాదము పొందుదువు గాక; నీవు ఘనకార్యములను పూనుకొని విజయము నొందుదువుగాక అని దావీదుతో అనెను. అప్పుడు దావీదు తన మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయెను, సౌలును తన స్థలమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

25. Then Saul said to David, 'My son David, may the Lord bless you. You will do great things. You will also have great success.' So David went on his way. And Saul returned home.
