1. యాకోబు తన త్రోవను వెళ్లుచుండగా దేవదూతలు అతనిని ఎదుర్కొనిరి.

1. And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

2. యాకోబు వారిని చూచి - ఇది దేవుని సేన అని చెప్పి ఆ చోటికి మహనయీము అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

2. And when he saw them, Jacob said, This is the camp of God. And he called the name of that place, Two Camps.

3. యాకోబు ఎదోము దేశమున, అనగా శేయీరు దేశముననున్న తన సహోదరుడైన ఏశావునొద్దకు దూతలను తనకు ముందుగా పంపి

3. And Jacob sent messengers before his face to his brother Esau, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.

4. మీరు నా ప్రభువైన ఏశావుతో ఇంతవరకు నేను లాబానునొద్ద నివసించి యుంటిని;

4. And he commanded them, saying, You shall say to my lord, to Esau: Your servant Jacob says this: I have sojourned with Laban and remained until now.

5. నాకు పశువులు గాడిదలు మందలు దాసదాసీజనమును కలరు; నీ కటాక్షము నాయందు కలుగునట్లుగా నా ప్రభువునకిది తెలియచేయనంపితినని నీ సేవకుడైన యాకోబు అనెనని చెప్పుడని వారి కాజ్ఞాపించెను.

5. And it is mine to have oxen, and asses, flocks, and slaves and slave-girls. And I have sent to tell my lord, to find favor in your eyes.

6. ఆ దూతలు యాకోబు నొద్దకు తిరిగివచ్చి - మేము నీ సహోదరుడైన ఏశావునొద్దకు వెళ్లితివిు; అతడు నాలుగువందల మందితో నిన్ను ఎదుర్కొన వచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పగా

6. And the messengers came back to Jacob, saying, We came to your brother Esau, and also he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.

7. యాకోబు మిక్కిలి భయపడి తొందరపడి

7. And Jacob was afraid, and he was very distressed. And he divided the people with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two camps.

8. ఏశావు ఒక గుంపు మీదికి వచ్చి దాని హతము చేసినయెడల మిగిలిన గుంపు తప్పించుకొనిపోవుననుకొని, తనతోనున్న జనులను మందలను పశువులను ఒంటెలను రెండు గుంపులుగా విభాగించెను.

8. And he said, If Esau comes to the one company and strikes it, then it will be, the company that is left shall escape.

9. అప్పుడు యాకోబు - నా తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాము దేవా, నా తండ్రియైన ఇస్సాకు దేవా, నీ దేశమునకు నీ బంధువుల యొద్దకు తిరిగి వెళ్లుము, నీకు మేలు చేసెదనని నాతో చెప్పిన యెహోవా,

9. And Jacob said, Oh God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, Jehovah, who said to me, Go back to your land and to your kindred and I will deal well with you.

10. నీవు నీ సేవకునికి చేసిన సమస్తమైన ఉపకారములకును సమస్త సత్యమునకును అపాత్రుడను, ఎట్లనగా నా చేతి కఱ్ఱతో మాత్రమే యీ యొర్దాను దాటితిని; ఇప్పుడు నేను రెండు గుంపులైతిని.

10. I am not worthy of all the mercies and all the truth which You have done for Your servant, for I passed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies.

11. నా సహోదరుడైన ఏశావు చేతినుండి దయచేసి నన్ను తప్పించుము; అతడు వచ్చి పిల్లలతో తల్లిని, నన్ను చంపునేమో అని అతనికి భయపడుచున్నాను.

11. Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, mother to sons.

12. నీవు నేను నీకు తోడై నిశ్చయముగా మేలు చేయుచు, విస్తారమగుటవలన లెక్కింపలేని సముద్రపు ఇసుకవలె నీ సంతానము విస్తరింపజేయుదునని సెలవిచ్చితివే అనెను.

12. And You said, dealing I will deal well with you, and I will make your seed like the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

13. అతడు అక్కడ ఆ రాత్రి గడిపి తాను సంపాదించిన దానిలో తన అన్నయైన ఏశావు కొరకు ఒక కానుకను

13. And he remained there that night. And he took a present from what came into his hand, for his brother Esau:

14. అనగా రెండువందల మేకలను ఇరువది మేక పోతులను రెండువందల గొఱ్ఱెలను ఇరువది పొట్టేళ్లను

14. two hundred she-goats, twenty he-goats, two hundred rams,

15. ముప్పది పాడి ఒంటెలను వాటి పిల్లలను నలుబది ఆవులను పది ఆబోతులను ఇరువది ఆడుగాడిదలను పది గాడిద పిల్లలను తీసికొని మందమందను వేరు వేరుగా

15. thirty nursing camels with their thirty colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty she-asses and ten young asses.

16. తన దాసులచేతి కప్పగించి మీరు మంద మందకు నడుమ ఎడముంచి నాకంటె ముందుగా సాగిపొండని తన దాసులతో చెప్పెను.

16. And he gave into the hand of his slaves every drove by itself. And he said to his slaves, Pass over before my face and put a space between drove and drove.

17. మరియు వారిలో మొదటివానితో నా సహోదరుడైన ఏశావు నిన్ను ఎదుర్కొని - నీవెవరివాడవు? ఎక్కడికి వెళ్లుచున్నావు? నీ ముందరనున్నవి యెవరివని నిన్ను అడిగినయెడల

17. And he commanded the first ones, saying, When my brother Esau meets you and asks, saying, Whose are you, and where do you go, and whose are these before your face?

18. నీవు ఇవి నీ సేవకుడైన యాకోబువి, ఇది నా ప్రభువైన ఏశావుకొరకు పంపబడిన కానుక; అదిగో అతడు మా వెనుక వచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పుమని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

18. Then you will say, Your servant Jacob's. It is a present sent to my lord, to Esau; and, behold, also he is behind us.

19. అట్లతడు నేను ముందుగా పంపుచున్న కానుకవలన అతని సమాధానపరచిన తరువాత నేను అతని ముఖము చూచెదను; అప్పుడతడు ఒకవేళ నన్ను కటాక్షించుననుకొని మీరు ఏశావును చూచి

19. And he also commanded the second, also the third, even all the ones going after the droves, saying, You shall speak this word to Esau when you find him.

20. మీరు - ఇదిగో నీ సేవకుడైన యాకోబు మా వెనుక వచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పవలెననియు రెండవవానికిని మూడవవానికిని మందల వెంబడి వెళ్లిన వారికందరికిని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

20. And you shall also say, Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will cover his face by the present, the one going before my face, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will lift up my face.

21. అతడు కానుకను తనకు ముందుగా పంపించి తాను గుంపులో ఆ రాత్రి నిలిచెను.

21. And the present passed before his face, and he remained in the camp that night.

22. ఆ రాత్రి అతడు లేచి తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను తన యిద్దరు దాసీలను తన పదకొండుమంది పిల్లలను తీసికొని యబ్బోకు రేవు దాటిపోయెను.

22. And he rose up that night and took his two wives, and his two slave-girls, and his eleven children. And he passed over the ford Jabbok.

23. యాకోబు వారిని తీసి కొని ఆ యేరు దాటించి తనకు కలిగినదంతయు పంపివేసెను.

23. And he took them and sent them over the stream, and sent over that which was his.

24. యాకోబు ఒక్కడు మిగిలి పోయెను; ఒక నరుడు తెల్లవారు వరకు అతనితో పెనుగులాడెను.

24. And Jacob was left alone. And a Man wrestled with him until the ascending of the dawn.

25. తాను అతని గెలువకుండుట చూచి తొడగూటిమీద అతనిని కొట్టెను. అప్పుడతడు ఆయనతో పెనుగులాడుటవలన యాకోబు తొడ గూడువసిలెను.

25. And He saw that He had not prevailed against him. And He touched on his hip socket, and Jacob's hip socket was unhinged as he wrestled with Him.

26. ఆయన - తెల్లవారుచున్నది గనుక నన్ను పోనిమ్మనగా అతడు - నీవు నన్ను ఆశీర్వదించితేనే గాని నిన్ను పోనియ్యననెను.

26. And He said, Send Me away, for the dawn has ascended. And he said, I will not let You go unless You bless me.

27. ఆయన నీ పేరేమని యడుగగా అతడు - యాకోబు అని చెప్పెను.

27. And He said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.

28. అప్పుడు ఆయన నీవు దేవునితోను మనుష్యులతోను పోరాడి గెలిచితివి గనుక ఇకమీదట నీ పేరు ఇశ్రాయేలే గాని యాకోబు అనబడదని చెప్పెను.

28. And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with men, and have prevailed.

29. అప్పుడు యాకోబు - నీ పేరు దయచేసి తెలుపుమనెను. అందు కాయన - నీవు ఎందునిమిత్తము నా పేరు అడిగితివని చెప్పి అక్కడ అతని నాశీర్వదించెను.

29. And Jacob asked and said, Please reveal Your name. And He said, Why this that you ask about My name? And He blessed him there.

30. యాకోబు - నేను ముఖా ముఖిగా దేవుని చూచితిని అయినను నా ప్రాణము దక్కినదని ఆ స్థలమునకు పెనూయేలు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

30. And Jacob called the name of the place Face of God, because I saw God face to face, and my life is delivered.

31. అతడు పెనూయేలు నుండి సాగిపోయినప్పుడు సూర్యోదయమాయెను; అప్పుడతడు తొడకుంటుచు నడిచెను.

31. And the sun rose on him as he passed over Penuel, and he was limping on his thigh.

32. అందుచేత ఆయన యాకోబు తొడగూటి మీది తుంటినరము కొట్టినందున నేటివరకు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు తొడ గూటిమీదనున్న తుంటినరము తినరు.

32. On account of this the sons of Israel do not eat the sinew of the thigh that is on the hip socket until this day, because He touched on Jacob's hip socket, on the sinew of the thigh.
